RyanD: you da man... added all of your suggestions... most of the fun in doing this is seeing so much i either wasn't around here for or have missed... half of these i'd never seen before and i think i spend too much time on this joint. ha!

i also agree with your comment about post deletion. the more i look at these old threads the more i'm convinced that a person shouldn't be able to delete their old thread contributions after the same two week or whatever period it is that they are able to edit them during... they should however be able to take their name off them indefinitely... that way they wouldn't have to be associated with the post, but a person could still follow the conversation when looking at old threads... regarding this age old debate i'm of the opinion that contributions to a conversation [in this case threads] become "owned" by those having the conversation... trip reports on the other hand should remain in the ownership of the original poster... if people want to take their toys and go home they should be able to take their trip reports... their thread postings should remain community property at the same time that a poster should have the ability to take their name off of them. [obviously this all imesho]

phylp: great suggestion. i hadn't seen that one before. but it reminded me of drljefe's recent tr in tribute to his sister, which i also included. both of these, while engaging to different points along the emotional spectrum are what makes this place great... thanks for your addition!

housekeeping: while it's only two threads long i added a squamish category to the serial threads list and added Big Mike's squamish thread to it... given that, to date, Big Mike's thread is the size of 80 "long" threads and has some real gold within it, it only made sense to consider them serial threads even if there are only "two" of them.

also in working through some of this I came upon DMT's the great enduring non-acrimonious thread list... while a lot of that is ot, a lot of it has good climbing content so i included it in the list compilation...

thanks everyone... keep 'em coming.

added this to the op:

and finally as all's fair in love and war, if there are entries on here that you don't think are worthy, post those up as well! i'm not sure what it'd be, but there's probably a threshold where removal should be considered... plus a little controversy never hurts in supertacoland.

Moose: if you think you feel hurt, think of all the others who feel even more hurt and unloved than you do...

did your mother ever tell you to eat your brussels sprouts, because starving ethiopians would love to have brussels sprouts?

this is kind of like that... that's why you need to tell us what your favourite non-Moose started climbing thread is... while it's easier to tell me your favourite moosedrool thread, if you don't eat your brussels sprouts everyone ends up feeling hurt and unloved...

please call 1-800-ST-HALL-OF-FAME [don't worry it's an international number] now as operators are standing by waiting to give recognition to a hurt and neglected st contributor...

please, don't wait another moment...

because remember supertopoians, only YOU can keep ethiopian children from starving.

Well, guess what?

I got a few more.

Is there a minimum # of posts a thread should have to be hall of fame? Or are we just recognizing quality climbing content that we are lucky enough to wallow in a massive, chaotic archive of??

Either way, this thread is going to make rainy season so much better.

These two thread/TRs are kinda the same story but written from different perspectives. Some of the greatest writing- so funny.

I would say any of these 65 Trip Reports would have to be included.
http://www.supertopo.com/inc/view_tripreports.php?dcid=Pj44PTU-OSI,

Pellucid is a gem here.
If I had to pick one it would be his Mithral Dihedral report.

Big Mike: gold for sure! added.

RyanD: quantity is meaningless in my book. some long threads are sh#t and some very short threads completely deserve to be on here...

the way i've been thinking about what should be on here is the following: if someone who didn't waste as much [or any] time on here as we obviously do [haha], came along, what would be the current and historical information, humorous and serious conversation and story, etc. and etc. that i/we would suggest they take a look at to represent the best of what this place has to offer regarding climbing related information/entertainment.

but what do you [and anyone else interested in this little attempt at chaos mining] think the criteria for a supertopo hall of fame should be?

for the time being there is so much that hasn't been mentioned that i think it's better to accept the chaos, cast a wide net to begin with and have people who are interested suggest what makes sense to them. once we start to reach the end of the mining seams [or maybe when we are bored in the winter] we can begin to nail down what a criteria for inclusion should be and therefore what should or should not be on here. if a bit of fools gold sneaks its way on here we can always sort that out later.

added your suggestions.

this just in: for sure. i added both a link to the whole list as well as the half dome like you haven't seen it, teton grand slam, geochronology wall and the mithral dihedral tr that you suggested.

mining: i went through the best of tr threads from 2011, 12 and 13 and added most of the tr's that were suggested multiple times and weren't already on the list. this included:

jim herson: half dome with my daughter
damn this looks high: half dome cables with an autistic boy
hudon: zenyatta mondatta solo
tahoe 523: a laywoman's account of a not too soggy siege on salathe and niad in 3 days and 2 nights

the individual post section needs a little action, so i added, to the first post in this thread, a few that have stood out to me over the years:

Jim Brennan's The Higher we Got, The Freer We Became.

madbolter1's How did I feel about the WoS Route itself?

and while it verges on OT The Fist's Lost Friend is just too good to pass over

finally, L's Peter Croft saved me from terminal boredom was nominated in the 2008 best post thread

in some fall cleaning, i moved james' and wbraun's entries from the thread section to the single post section...

James: The Trip's Not Over: A Chongo Update [Dec. 3, 2007]

WBraun + elcap-pics: ElCap Report "Pics Fall 07" [Oct. 29, 2007]

any non-tr individual posts that made a long lasting impression on you?
