A female protester fired three rounds at the police line before she was arrested, the department said.

In another shooting incident, a man was taken into custody after a man was shot in the hand. That “situation involved a private individual who was run off the road by protesters,” the department said in a Facebook post.

Guns and many other weapons were at standing rock. One protestor allegedly fired shots (red fawn fallis goes on trial next month). Another protestor lost an arm in an explosion that they allegedly set off. I see the situations as very similar

And I don't support the bundys- I just feel this is an excuse by the government to crack down on people by handing out overly harsh sentences.

yer right wilmot, those damn injuns always getting a free pass. White male is the most discriminated against person in society. #MAGA

Edit- according to the judge you don't have to be armed nor do you have to physically touch a federal officer in order to be charged with assaulting one. They only have to "feel" intimidated

The judge is correct (imagine that?), read the definition of assault upthread

At least in this instance there was a trial unlike the many executions which occur around the country almost daily.

But Wilmot is right. I trust the intuitions of these federales and enforcers about as much as I trust the mafia, hells angels or Trump or ms-13

LAS VEGAS — The top federal prosecutor in Nevada vowed a third trial Wednesday for two men accused of armed assault on a federal officer in a 2014 standoff that stopped a cattle roundup near the ranch of states’ rights figure Cliven Bundy.

“There’s no question about us proceeding forward. Just so the record’s clear,” Acting U.S. Attorney Steven Myhre told Chief U.S. District Judge Gloria Navarro a day after a jury acquitted two defendants of all 10 charges but failed to reach verdicts on four charges against Eric Parker and two counts against Scott Drexler.

“Raising a firearm against a federal law enforcement officer, or any law enforcement officer, is a crime,” Myhre declared as he lost a bid to keep the two men in federal custody until the next trial. “That’s why we brought (Parker) to trial and … intend to try him a third time.”

Parker and Drexler were photographed during the standoff on a high Interstate 15 freeway overpass near Bunkerville pointing rifles through concrete sidewall barriers toward heavily armed federal agents in a dry riverbed below. The agents were guarding corrals of rounded-up cattle and facing flag-waving unarmed men, women and children.

Navarro ruled that Parker, 34, of Hailey, Idaho, and Drexler, 46, of Challis, Idaho, can return to their home state to await trial, which she scheduled Sept. 25. She also scheduled an Aug. 31 hearing to determine if the date will stand.

Keeping the September date for the two men would mean another delay starting the trial for Bundy, four of his sons and six other defendants who have been in federal custody since their arrests in early 2016 despite invoking their rights to a speedy trial.

Funny how the media twists things. Here are some facts about the Bundys and grazing on BLM. The Bundys were early settlers of Nevada when it was still Utah territory more than 100 years before Nevada became a state. They grazed that land for 150 years. Were it not for early pioneers like them, there would be no Nevada State. The disputed land in question was offered to a Chineese company by Nevada senator Reed, whos son Rory represented the foreign company. The Chinese were not able to conduct their solar cell manufacturing process in China because the Chinese government deemed it to toxic and environmentaly destructive even for China. So senator Reed offered to kick the Bundys out and let the Chinese pollute our public lands. His son Rory, a crooked Lawyer, was paid a huge sum by the Chinese to grease the deal. This is not the only "green energy" scam by senator Reed. He was instrumental in securing enormous government loans for Solyndra, a ponzi scheme that defaulted while paying its executives enormous "compensation " from US tax dollars. Reed and Rory also were instrumental in securing over $700,000,000 in government loans to a solar project near Tonopah Nevada, which has fallen into financial trouble and has been offline for almost a year due to defects in their molten salt tanks. Another Solyndra scandal in the making. In my view, the Bundys grazing use of public lands is a part of our heritage and the reason why BLM exists. Those are PUBLIC lands for our use in mining and grazing. NOT for privatization by foreign companies, which is what sell outs like Reed and Feinstein are doing. Soon, Americas public lands will be off limits to the public. Perhaps even climbing will be banned. The shutdown of the BLMs "Geocommunicator" maps program is a good example of how the BLM and the federal government are restricting public access to information to prevent us from using those lands. Feinstein claimed to be "preserving public lands for future generations " when as chairperson of the senate appropriations committees she eliminated funding for processing patents on mining claims. This is a complete violation of our right to due process and constitutional right to access and patent these lands. Meanwhile, she fast tracked approval of mining claims on those same lands to her European friends in the mining business. Those mines pay no excise tax, remove precious minerals from our nation and leave superfund sites for taxpayers to clean up. Who knows how much money she got deposited in Swiss accounts by these foreign opportunists. Feinstein is now objecting to the Federal governments efforts to examine those accounts for tax fraud and money laundering.

Correct, if you are white.

That is also the country-wide accepted definition for the need for a police officer to execute an unarmed person.
-Particularly if they are black.

Haven't you been reading the news?

For those of you who don't remember the Bundy family history, here's a link to Wikpedia on the subject.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bundy_standoff

The Bundy grazing history is a lot shorter than Chainsaw's sources allege.

The court found that Bundy and his father actually first began grazing their cattle on the Bunkerville Allotment in 1954 and used it for several years. They paid for cattle grazing again from 1973 until 1993, when Bundy paid the last fees for his final grazing application for the period from December 1, 1992, through February 28, 1993.

On January 24, 1994, the Bureau of Land Management delivered a Proposed Decision Order to Remove and Demand for Payment to Bundy by placing it on the dashboard of Bundy's vehicle while he was in the vehicle. BLM officials allege that Bundy became agitated, descended from his truck and accused the BLM of harassing him. He then returned to his truck, threw the proposed order out of the window and drove away. One of Bundy's sons then picked up the document, tore it to pieces and threw it on the ground.

On February 17, 1994, the BLM issued a final decision canceling Bundy's range-grazing permit. Bundy subsequently informed the BLM in several administrative notices that he intended to graze cattle "pursuant to my vested grazing rights." Bundy failed to demonstrate the existence of any such special rights when given an opportunity to do so in court.

Per this Las Vegas review Journal article, Senator Reid praised Obama "locking-up" Bundy's one-time BLM grazing allotment as Gold Butte National Monument.
https://www.reviewjournal.com/news/bundy-blm/bundy-friends-family-protest-federal-monument-decision/

Obama on Thursday declared the nearly 470-square-mile Gold Butte National Monument in an area across the Virgin River from the Bundy homestead, about 80 miles northeast of Las Vegas.

The local Moapa Band of Paiute Indians, conservationists and advocates praised the Gold Butte designation, which U.S. Sen. Harry Reid, D-Nev., who is retiring after 34 years in Congress, backed. They said the area is home to threatened wildlife, such as the desert tortoise and bighorn sheep, and contains ancient rock art and artifacts, unique geologic features, rare fossils and recently discovered dinosaur tracks.

Chainsaw, I did not read past your first two "facts" and I knew you were spewing tired old BS. There is no proof Bundy grazed the land that long ago. In any event this has been litigated in the courts for years and Bundy lost. Res judicata as they say. That is how the justice system works. or do you, like Bundy, not believe in our system of justice. If Clan Bundy wants us to respect the acquittals in the criminal case then they had better respect the civil judgement and pay the millions in grazing fees the courts deemed that they owe, and get their mangy cows off FEDERAL LAND
