Checked out the B. Thread early on. Know Ana pretty well. She had a plan to make peeps think. Problem is there's no control to what will happen or who will post what.

Weighing in. I have to admit a little side of me was pissed about the boob thread started by Anastsia. It would have been more appriate started by a man . She's a woman with boobs. Women USE boobs AND their bodies to control men. Is that knot a fact? I am so tired of being a f*#king productive hardnosed working man only to be shunned by some woman whom is so full of herself /boobs and body to make me crawl on my hands and knees just to have a civil conversation with her. That is the product of worshipping women's bodies. It's a societal thing. I sure wish women lusted after the underside of my scrotum as much as we men like their boobs. I wnat to celebrate what MEN bring to the table. So if TR will start a man adoring thread .....I'm in . Viva la hombre!

GDavis, you appear to be taking the position that if you don't like riding in the back of the bus, don't ride.

A lot of whites did take that position.

A lof of heterosexuals take the same position with gays.....you don't like the marriage policy, move out of the country.

But there are people who do take civic engagement seriously, and won't take the position that when they see something wrong, they just walk away and don't get involved.

When we are part of a very privileged group.....and I'm a white male, too, it is easy to forget the advantages that we have.

Nita, I've been involved with these scenarios before. Generally speaking, when the ISP contacts a webmaster with a complaint about illegal activity, it is generally phrased in terms of "delete NOW". As such, I'd think that the boobs thread would have gone instantly, rather than after t*r had been deleted.

Also, if there were a complaint of illegal activity, and the response was to delete the complainer, that's the type of action that can get you into a lot more trouble.

So, I think the evidence does not support such a contact.

I often am bemused, when a community like climbers, who fancy themselves as freaks and outlaws take umbrage when someone "breaks the rules".

I liked t*r's posts, even when I didn't agree with them - I'll miss her voice on the forum.

Be well t*r.

I happen to agree with her 100%, not that it matters.

I think it matters greatly, Norton.

Women who complain about such threads become trivialized as jealous prudes. Men willing to go against the current and disapprove...their opinion seem to bear more weight.

Again, I believe Anastasia intended a fun, bouyant thread...but threads wend away from the intentions of authors. She shouldn't be castigated for where things went.

A collective protest to admin. would have been preferable action...but we didn't cultivate such action... and T*R went through with her "civil disobedience".

...incorrect, but it ultimately worked. I hope she's allowed back soon. It's not like she slew the unblemished lamb.

My issue with t*r is her consistently childish reactions to ideas that offend her - I have seen this same hissy fit approach from her for YEARS now on this site. In the beginning, I wrote it off as the typical dramatic angst of an early teen, but she is getting too old to keep playing that role.

Time to grow up little missy.

What a bunch of crap.

t*r has taken more sh#t in here and has been the target of more vitriol than every other poster on this forum combined, and that includes fattrad et al in the political threads.

The worst of the mean spirited attacks have come primarily from older men. I really don't need to guess as to the reasons, they're quite obvious, and it's not because of supposed childish reactions to the ideas of others.

And there are a lot of people in here that make extremely childish posts and they have not received one-tenth of the vitriolic ad hominem crap that t*r has, and if memory serves she has even received unpleasant, harassing and downright creepy emails as well.

It's pretty obvious that she received an extra helping of creepy, sexist, vitriolic crap because she is a young woman, but there are women here who dumped more on her than on other female posters, also for obvious reasons that I need not mention.

Many of you should be down right ashamed of how you treated her. The rest of you who are complaining about her posts can get over yourselves, everyone posts annoying sh#t from time to time that we don't agree with (including me of course).

I for one can't fathom why she would be banned, while posters known for sexual harassment and who posted what was borderline kiddie-porn on the boobs thread still have active accounts.

As to you, t*r, cheers and look forward to reading your posts soon.

That maybe, but it also may be because many of us do know many other members on this site in the greater world wide web. At any rate, I have sent the following email to admin

*

Dear Chris, and RJ -

First, I would like to thank you for providing Supertopo as a climbing community portal. There is so much great content on the site, and it's value as a repository of living history is unquestionable.

I'm writing to ask if you might consider making a statement on the forum about the most recent conflagration (Boobs Thread). Specifically, the reason why the thread was deleted. Some feel that the reason was due to a member posting what appeared to be images of underage women in a sexualized context. Others have said they feel t*r and her thread bombing attempt were the cause. I wonder if perhaps the thread bomb brou haha(no doubt at least a few people alerted you that there was a poster trying to sabotage that thread...) simply brought the entire thread, and the inherent problematic issues it included to administration attention.

You can see a fairly good synopsis of member perspectives on the thread called "Thank You t*r here:
http://www.supertopo.com/climbers-forum/2051777/Thank-you-t-r

As well, I would like to say that I hope you will reactivate t*r's account in the near future. It seems to me that a permanent ban over her posting of those few (relatively) large "thread bombs" would be excessive, and it also concerns me, as a woman, that her account was deactivated over what many here have voiced was a reaction to abuse. Especially if the thread WAS deleted due to the images I mentioned above, and those who posted such images(there were more than just the ones toward the end of thread) have profiles which remain active.

Again, I appreciate Supertopo very much, as well as the work that goes into maintaining the site.

Did you just make the connection I thought you did? Geezus dude, hyperbole much?

This was my point.

I found that thread pretty pointless and wasn't interested in it. There are literally BILLIONS Of porn sites on the internet, why campaign because there are some skeezy dudes in their 50's drooling over tits online?

Once our favorite shirt maker starting putting up little kids tho, had to go. I guess he's lucky it ended there.

The fact that it is an issue says more about the spectrum of human behavior on this site. It's like a social petri dish. There are some f*#king creepy as people on this website, so I kinda figured that thread would devolve and implode at some point... quite honestly was surprised it lasted as long as it did.

I wasn't a part of that particular thread, and not for any idealogical reason (I LOVE PORN!!!) but because I saw it as it was - something that people will use to grind their own axes against others who don't share their same perspective.... OH AND HERE WE ARE!

(love you all <3)

I believe it was Russ who originally bombed threads with a large image of a mushroom cloud,
essentially nuking the thread in a sign of protest.

Civil disobedience should not be condemned. If t*r went around and nuked nuked a bunch of
threads by posting server-suffocating images, then yeah, I'd recommend a cease & desist
before an outright ban.

As much as most folks (well, at least males) love boobies, I can understand how a
thread of hundreds of bare-breasted photos might seem over the edge. And I can understand
how it might seem extremely offensive to some women--it's a delicate subject for a
slew of reasons.

I guess the short of it is thus: I understand t*r's reaction and her action to express
her distain. Banning, from what I've read, seems to be an overreaction--especially if the
thread was offensive enough that it needed to be nuked by the PTB (powers that be).

So, while I don't agree with t*r's action (heck, why not just ignore the thread if it's
that bad for you), but I certainly do understand it.
