norwegian's initial response to this OP (3 posts total) is a classic.

Beevee-

In his defense, I believe that Chris was not aware of the CP in the thread at the time. He seemed to take action fairly quickly after emails were sent his way indicating that it was important that he review the thread for questionable content.

Much as I enjoy a good pony bombing myself, there's also something to be said for going directly to a site admin in situations that are this clear cut.

My issue with t*r is her consistently childish reactions to ideas that offend her - I have seen this same hissy fit approach from her for YEARS now on this site. In the beginning, I wrote it off as the typical dramatic angst of an early teen, but she is getting too old to keep playing that role.

She was in her 20's then; she's in her 30's now.

The age-card defense is played out and ridiculous, it should have been retired eons ago.

The jig is up!

If t*r deserves thanks it is mostly for reaffirming that regardless of topic or (in most cases) content, 'thread nuking' is as it should be not well tolerated.
Though I disagree with and am disappointed by her method I appreciate her position and sincerely wish she would have started a thread for it. I even politely asked her to do it.

I had and continue to have no problems with t*r, where others on the forum have and have given her what I saw as a mean spirited hard time. Many other posters have been subject to much the same treatment by segments of the audience that disagreed with them. It is a part of the campfire experience -warmth, light and an occasional scorching.

There are a slew of threads I don't open. Either because they do not interest me or would disturb me. It is no loss to me to not open a thread. It is no loss to me to open a thread. It is my choice. Some posters seem to post and in some cases appear out of no where simply to complain about a thread. Now that is a loss.

Clearly despite the perpetual complaints about it the bulk of users interest based on response volume lays in the off topic threads. Maybe because we climbers are also interested in an amazing spectrum of stuff. Clicks = coins for Chris. He is doing cool stuff like installing solar PV panels so more power to the man. I just don't think he will revamp the system in any significant way any time soon. Most of the moderating should be self moderating and clan feedback.
Just like the climbing community we are supposed to be.

I know Anastasia, and I know why she started the thread. It was not to exploit women. Unfortunately, that is what happened. T*r was offended, and it appears many other men and women were too. Tuolumne rainbows' method may have been flawed, but she got her message across.

Cmac may have been alarmed about somebody abusing his bandwidth with multi large photo files, but I mean - that was hella weak of a supposed thread attack. The real thing has ultra gross ass pictures etc plastered all over the place by preferably forum accomplices, to really shock quickly all threads across the 'board.

To be clear the boob thread saw so much "action" because it was started shortly after the Newtown Gun slaughter and bumped every time another "oooh look how big my gun is" response on the bullet head threads occurred. It was a form of protest through distraction. So sorry it was degenerated and disturbing.
As a interesting reference do two forum searches.
One for the word boobs and one for the word guns.
If that is too much effort here are the results.
Boobs; 770 references.
Guns; 10,014 references.

Granted those numbers are after the boob thread was shot down but even that would only add another 1400 posts.

Don't feel bad Philo....687 more hits for tits; 217 for titties; 80 more of hooters; and 50 more for knockers. I could go on, but you get the picture.

MisterE, I have a kid home with the flu, I have a broken rib and a badly bruised kidney.
What should I be doing between medicine doses- lift weights?

Interesting that you responded, Philo. You're creativity in alternate entertainment really shined through on that post!

I was being flippant, "oldskoolwiner." I stand by my original post: its an expression of my opinion, not redacted in any manner. There's no room for winners or losers in an opinion. Its mine to keep.

I must say that I come down on the side of philosophical support of t*r.

We men do not generally recognize what many women in American life have to face, in terms of abuse, lack of recognition, glass ceilings. It is pervasive.

A lot of it comes from objectifying women. That quickly leads to minimizing contributions of women. This happens often in climbing, where I see women not listened to, because they are not "real" climbers.....which of course is nonesense.

T*R seemed to feel this strongly. As such, feeling the target of a class attack, she took an action that is best described as civil disobedience.

She did so with the understanding that she might be banned. There are generally consequences for civil disobedience. She was willing to endure that.

I don't agree with her reappearance as T*R2, with it's snarky underlayment.
It hurts her original action.

She could have taken other actions. She could have emailed CMac's ISP, and made a complaint about child porn. She could have called the cops.
She did neither.

She took the action that she took with her eyes open. There was a consequence. I don't believe in removing that consequence, particularly with coming back, but I'd think that a reasonable timeframe should be involved.
