18 is an arbitrary age.

Is it?

Both men and women are at their physical peak at about 18. For both men and women it's all downhill after that, first a gently sloped hill, that gets steeper and turns into a cliff at 40.

Personally.. I think a 50 year old man should get his mind off of the 18 year olds.

You think 50 year old people should only find other 50 year olds attractive? Really? No one can seriously claim that the average 50 year old man or woman is more physically attractive then the average 18 year old man or woman, raise your hands.

50 year olds tend to date other 50 year olds because they want someone with the same level of maturity and shared interests based on a similar background.

The 43 year old Hank Caylor would pound the f*#king sh#t out of the 18 year old Hank Caylor. AND, I'm a waaaaaay better lay now than the 18 year old me.

You're the exception.

Guys who peak in High School and then just bloat out and whither are a shame.

It's a shame but that's the rule.

Also if you'd word out as much as an 18 year old as you did later, the 18 year old you would still win. Just sayin'.

What are you? 18?

If it turns into a cliff at 40, I sure have climbed it a lot ever since.

I am stronger and smarter now than I have ever been. I have knott felt any "downhill" effects, at least not yet. Hoping it will continue!

I don't mean that 18 doesn't have an overall significance. It certainly does. But their is still a fairly wide range of maturity at that age. I think we needed an age at which we legally define someone as an adult, but that doesn't mean that just because they now turned 18 that they are now fully an adult. Legally, yes, but otherwise. Not necessarily. We already realize that 18 year olds aren't necessarily fully grown. The drinking age in many places is 21. I'm just trying to point out that 18 was an age we decided was a turning point. Just because something it is legal doesn't mean that it is always right.

I try to ignore Hugh Hefner. He isn't a hero to me.

If maturity is the yardstick then an awful lot of people are going to run afoul of the rule.

Yeah, and that is why some 50 year olds are able to marry 20 year olds and find it a good emotional fit! Because the 50 year old is immature for his or her age, and/or the 20 year old is mature for his or her age.

You're the exception.

Yeah, look at the average age of boxing champions (or winners of climbing comps, whatever), it ain't 43. Perhaps it's the ego that is getting stronger? :)

Really I think what we're seeing is an American fetish, which has led you to think that anyone with boobs smaller than a B cup is underage. That's because where you live, all the girls with small boobs get bags of silicon implanted in their chests.

Now I begin to understand the huge pressure they face to have the operation.

I don't think too many people here have any idea of what a normal young adult who is not overweight with smallish to average breasts looks like.

In most of the porn you see, the women have artificially enhanced breasts, or if they are natural, they are much larger then average.

Americans have taken a perfectly normal natural part of the body and fetishized it.

Those girls are without a doubt prepubescent.

"Alhough some can argue with merit that the entire thread was creepy and inappropraite. . . "

I'd like to hear the arguments condemning such a thread (which does NOT feature youngish looking women), and probe the psychological drivers behind the condemnation. Can we say, "issues . . ."

This site and the climbing world have always been large enough for both the John Calvin's and the John Holmes' to sound off. That one would acquire the power to at once police what we see and determine what content is appropriate is, IMO, a gigantic dereliction of the tolerance and freedom most of us so prize and cherish about the adventure world. Defenders of the faith are telling others what to do, and save for felonious or hateful acts, I have no patients for self-appointed censors.

EVERYONE has the freedom to say what they believe. Notwithstanding debauched forays into kiddy porn, gay bashing, and such crapola, NOBODY should ever have the power to determine the agenda or to make this site or the adventure community over in their own image or to their own liking. That's moral fascism masquerading as the One True Path, where subjective fears, credos and beliefs are fobbed off as objective truths or, worst still, as "God's will." The fact that this is a largely unconscious process makes it especially dangerous.

Do you have any idea what happens when you bury the dark side in the name of "good?" No - you don't need to elevate the shadow or worship rats and Devils. It's not all or nothing, a universal fact apparently lost on many.
