Some of you on a couple of my threads have asked if Acopa has a shoe similar to the La Sportiva Mythos. I did a little research (and of course some of you will disagree, so please don't blast me out of the water. It's too early in the day.) and found they make a shoe called the Aztec that is supposed to fit well, is precise with really nice leather, toe point, comfort and less expensive.
So, I have an idea. Since I am just starting up climbing again I'm gonna get a pair of both and conduct a real live test. It may be a bit but I'll let you know what happens.

KAREN, are you still out there? If anyone knows Karen tell her I'm looking for her and her Grandmother's Psychedelic Fabric.
Raydog is now working at Ripstop Repair and he says they will have a chalkbag design soon.
Karen, where is that fabric? Calling Karen.

Being a raft guide is great. You get to work outdoors, if the clients are dicks you can flip and watch'em swim. Its easier than it looks, if you can point a boat and yell at people your qualified.

Todd, you made my day! What a great pic. We did have fun at Woodsen and the big party was a blast!
Amy and I are toying with the idea of climbing in Josh next Saturday, May 23. Are you available or is it a kid day? We would drive there after work on Friday and probably stay at the J. Tree Inn. Then get up early to climb. Have to be back in town on Sunday early for a big family gathering.
I got my shoes, harness and chalk bag and I may get a rope this weekend. We probably won't go if you're not available cause we need to start with someone that knows what the heck they're doing and that ain't us. Chow Baby. lrl

Took me forever to come up with this, and it is a fantasy job, no doubt. A semi-juvenile fantasy job at that.
Professional breast examiner and wine taster... or is it breast taster and wine examiner?
Not sure about the qualifications, except that you probably need to have seen a lot of breasts and drank a lot of wine.
IT could be dicey though, if you got confused. I can see the review now:
"This 1971 breast still has a perky insouciance, evoking memories of fresh cut grass, violets, and ripe strawberries, with a full body and showing a perfect age. Appears to be in perfect balance for long life. Enjoy now til 2020."

Hey Kahnom, I never thought I'd see this thread again! But I was thinking about it just this morning.
I too am looking to reinvent my life, SOON. My target date is September 1st. I want to include the outdoors and a certain amount of adventure, writing and I'm not sure what else.
I too was a journalist once. I worked for a small newspaper and got to also take many of their photos. Got paid by the column inch, so big pictures were good for the pocket book.
Look for Jellos post in this thread. It really encouraged me to go for my fantasy, which I am. I may not start where I want to end up (does that make sense?) What I'm trying to say is even if I have to start out as a waitress in Yosemite I will start somewhere and see what opens up. For sure if I sit in this office it probably won't come to me.
I say, if you can go for your Dream. Life is short. Peace and Joy, Lynnie

Miss Lynne says....." What I'm trying to say is even if I have to start out as a waitress in Yosemite I will start somewhere"
Lynne, Waitress is a coveted job in Yosemite, you have to work a fair amount in other jobs first.......union..... Like I have said before..better yet..a seasonal job in Tuolumne or TPR.
oops gotta go.. Hope you have a Sweet Holiday weekend. n.t.
edit for Lynne, Not all Yosemite jobs are hard to get.

I can't say what the ideal fantasy job is, but I think more important is how we live our lives. My dad had his own company and worked hard 60-70 hour weeks for 30+ years. It was a successful company and allowed for a great lifestyle growing up. Through some downturns in the economy and technological changes he ended up nearly walking away from what he built over those decades, retired at 72, and passed away last spring a few weeks after his 80th birthday. I don't think he had many regrets.
That said, I wished I'd had the oportunity to spend more time with him when I was growing up. I definately realized that working your butt off putting all dreams asside until you retire wasn't the way to go. Most folks are too old and tired to chase their dreams at retirement, and fortunes wax and wane.
That has formed my world view which has been to work as little as possible and spend as much time as possible with my family. Somehow I seem to have gotten into the rat race trap of two many financial obligations and the ability to be compensated fairly well for my time.
My wife and I have been debating selling everything, buying a sailboat w/ cash and living on it for a few years, or longer. But then we think, we want the kids to have a good education to set them up for college, which brings us back to where we are.
I've half heartedly looked into some work overseas that with the right company would pretty much pay all our expenses and after 2-3 years we'd had a wad of $ tax free. The other option is working in the AK oil fields 2 weeks on, 2 weeks off, and acruing enough vacation to take a 2 week work hitch off every other year which would allow a 6 week vacation. The money is good, but being away from family for 2 week hitches is tough.
Can't believe I've been at the same job for almost 9 years, every other job has bit over 2 years. I simply haven't found anything better, and by and large I work with some decent people, and most importantly get along with my boss.
That sailboat is sure sounding good!

Tolman, Food for thought. My husband put himself through USC Pharmacy school and we had our 4 children during that time. I felt strongly about staying home with the children, so Dan converted an old barn into a green house, we grew plants and I gave plant parties at night while he watched the kids and did homework. We had one car so Dan could go to school and I walked everywhere with the kids. Those were some of the happiest, simplest years of our lives.
So when it was time for our 4 to go to college, we said go for it. All four put themselves through college and are very proud of it. It helped make them the incredible adults they are now. lrl

Good suggestion Raydog, keep the ideas coming!
Nita: I've been white collar for so long maybe I'll try something new. If Yosemite is hard to break into I do clean a mean toilet.
Smiles, Lynnie
