Desperately seeking gut wrenching laughs! Worn out from TIG's God's Dice.
Jake Bro, love your report from the Lodge Cafe!
My fantasy job....a part time waitress at "Jake's Cafe" at the Lodge in Yosemite. (renamed it for you happening reporter dude.) And during the down time taking those new mint green mythos on a few climbs.
So what fantasy job would you give up your day job for?
No Peace tonight, just Laughs!

Alaskan weather + small aircraft makes the bush pilot gig a veddy dangerous gig.
If I could find the right location for a remote lodge, run a B&B, and have access to climbing, that would be the dream gig. Somebody else can spend their time flying the plane in the good weather, I want to enjoy that good weather on the ground!

Raydog, I don't really know you yet from ST. Just what pimp industry are you referring to? There are alot of them. For instance politics, since it's the vogue topic now.

So now we have the Karen and Paul team. It would be amazing what a little (or lot) of the kind of dreams and bravado we could all realize if we had the (Here's an unadulterated, outright pulg for the book club)Greg Mortenson take on life.
Me personally, I'm starting with my shoes at Jake's.

Karen, keep the dream. I spent a week flying in Beavers, helicopters and i forget the name of this old, wierd plane that lands in water and then with your windows underwater the plane crawls onto the beach like some type of primal mord (did I get that right Ed and TIG?)

Raydog, did you boulder at Woodsen? Did you know Dan or Randy Leavitt? Are you old enough to have gone to the first ever Bouldering Contest at Mt. Woodsen?

The main character in Pattern Recognition by William Gibson worked a freelance gig that sounded sweet. She would get hired by a company to give a go/no go on their logo design. She got paid no matter what and didn't have to justify her response in any way.

RE:

of course I know then and yes I know of the woodson contests
but, did not make the first one, I think.
mimi?
you said you saw me at one?
I can't remember which one but found the day extremely stimulating
and perhaps one of my most fun ever on the hill.
I LOVE Woodson
we have a full-on Woodson cult here, Lynne.
dis is da hood sista and we iz da ganstas ;)
I climbed full time in San Diego for many years,
meaning I did not work full time and ordered my self
employment around going cragging, exploring and
making trails in the S.D. hills.
mostly in the glorious craggy peaks of Deerhorn valley,
east of Chula~juana~essay :)
love S.D. - love it down there.

Haven't seen Grizzly man, and won't. I guess the gentlest way to express my feelings towards Mr. Treadwell was that he was an idiot harassing wildlife, not a bear expert.
I've been fortunate to see a fair bit of the state, albeit mostly from the road system, and some of it via water.
Actually I have thought about a fishing charter as a dream job, but with basically a 4 month season, high operating costs, weather et al, there just isn't the money in it for what it takes.
I'll never tire of the scenery!

Ray, it was the 1986 Woodson Bouldering Contest. A really good one with a ton of melodrama. Height of the lycra age, battling between the doggers and the dognots. Highpitched whining at it's finest. Verm took a pic of me that made the mag. My nanosecond of fame. LOL!
We were in line for the same prob at one point. I was sandbagged again. Great place to boulder! What a great town too. I was lucky at the post-raffle and won one of your FROG fanny packs covered with painted kisses. Still have it.

Hey, that's a great info post rd, if you ever want to redo Woodsen your welcome here in Valley Center.
Hafilax, I don't think I ever connected with you on ST til the Dice gig. Can you get me her job. No, I think I'll hold out for the Lodge Cafe. Just read on Mr. Chris Super Topo's thread that loners and stoners hang out there. No tips, but hard to lyour job if you show up. Maybe I can use their shower for the Yosemite Facelift.
