So Tradman is an adrenaline junky.

No different than a doper.

Both are addicted to intoxicant.

Prisoners of intoxication.

Material Bondage ......

Those are some real vintage ice tools! I'm surprised you don't need drugs for your bashed knuckles. Good job getting out there and climbing!

"has nothing to do with doing it my way. it is simply a statement that if you think weed makes your climbing experience better that is simply an illusion and you are missing out on reality"

Nevermind, found my pitchfork. Reminds me of a Metallica song, "Holier Than Thou"

Anyone who thinks that getting high doesn’t affect their Sobriety is lying to themselves and as we all know, you’ll never be sober if you lie to yourself.. .

Is it a free solo if your leashes are attached to your harness? Seems more like aid solo to me... 🤔

Nothing that bad about getting stoned. Nothing wrong with climbing either. Although as the wise will tell, if you smoke, check your knot twice and dont rig that gri gri backwards. That said, the pure experience of climbing is so potent and precise, I would not want to dull the edge of the sharp end by adulterating it with weed. I wouldnt want to cross fade it. Getting stoned afterward is another matter. And so many of us love to swill a cold beer after a big day on the wall. But climbing is itself such a great experience, I prefer to be completely in the nanosecond of the now while leading. Not so much for the safety, although that is an issue. Mostly I prefer to climb sober because getting stoned takes the edge off the sharp end and dulls the senses to the most subtle and amazing aspects of climbing for me. Perhaps others find it differently. Getting high could perhaps enhance the experience for others. But for me, getting stoned and climbing is like getting cross faded. I prefer the purity of the sober experience.

I used to do a lot of climbing with Scott Cosgrove who was a heavy stoner lol.

He couldn't function without smoking the weed.

At times he forgot to smoke the weed he was worthless and I had to tell him to smoke his weed and then he'd become normal again, lol.

He was so funny ....

Some people adulterate it with weed to hone the edge of the sharp end.

What I already knew and had to re learn is that weed does not expand your mind as much as it simply spaces you out.

Weed doesn't affect every one the same. When I have been an occasional smoker I space out more than when a regular smoker.

But the strain of weed really does make a difference as does the quantity.

But speculating a bit, it sounds like your real gripe is that the weed blocked the multi day adrenaline high you were seeking.

If weed blocked your enjoyment of being outdoors and fluid movement and all that, then it sounds like weed isn't for you. Or maybe you just need to double down and break on through to the other side.

If weed blocked your fear and that is why you didn't enjoy it, may I diplomatically suggest maybe you should think through soloing.

Cheers

if you actually read my OP I did not smoke until after the solo. Just because you have built up a tolerance does not mean you are not ripped it simply means that ripped is your new normal.

DOOOD! I Did & YOU HAVE
Figured a few puffs have no impact on my alcohol sobriety so I gave it a go. The stink bud actually works pretty good for pain. I will give it that but it kills your awareness of lots of other sensations.
So from that We must start, your use if that is what you call it stems from a miss-conception & inappropriate (for you) use. In your reality, it is an intoxicant, period, not a tool. The addictive mind, those types who are prone to be type"A", very smart, frustrated by. . . The Always thinking , On 'go', all the time, type of person, always that one type especially, has different triggers..

Power is not the same as potency, there is a power in the herb, that is mixed up in ritual, but that is lost in todays strains of high test sticky-icky.
(just the sniff is intoxicating, if you have a problem, if you have no problem its nice to just sniff)
The bastardization of a sacrament, by scientific means, that led to this new high potency, clouds the benifits, that balanced natural herb has.
Please, read up on the crazy science there is a strain to compliment your needs.

The old school Northern lights, & it's Crosses, That is an indica based, bud?, often recommended to extend your good feelings,a 'crisp'high, best AFTER YOUR particular bliss, whatever that may be.

I tried to not have an opinion. In many ways I agree with the premiss.
I think if substance abuse like yours is so profound, i'd find what it is that has my psyche so tormented, that it needs, (& only?) 300 ft Ice Strolls, on the regular to get* out of it's self,to find that calm place.

*(to get off, seemed to crude a way to put it , here for this crowed)
Meditation happens in all forms of pursuits, the goal is to learn to find the balance between full bliss and the common levels of awareness that one needs to climb through life.
