Prince and Jimmy Jam Harris played at our high school in 1976. For free.
There's a dance hall in downtown Minneapolis--1st aVenue--If you saw Purple Rain some of the movie was shot there--In the 80's we'd go dancing on friday and saturday nights- Prime danceteria it was called..about once month the rumor was that Prince was going to be playing that night. The rumour made the town electric. And he did this quite often but I never made any of the shows.

MINNEAPOLIS — Rock star Prince's fondness for macaroni and cheese and canned cake frosting was too much for his chef, who quit after only a month on the job.
"He eats a lot of junk food. I have the feeling it's going to catch up with him," Carmen Bonilla of Minneapolis said Wednesday of the svelte Prince.
Bonilla, 36, a professional chef for 10 years, said she began working for Prince just before Christmas. Her last day on the job was Wednesday.
"He hasn't had the opportunity to develop his palate," Bonilla said of the reclusive rock star. "He doesn't eat out very much because he's shy and he hates the public. . . . He wants the comfort food he grew up on."

WHHAAAATTTTTT? quess that was prolly before selfies, eh? i seen him play. It would'a been a dream come true for me to shoot hoops with the Prince. Maybe the only thing i could school him at! Ha. (just kidd'in brother, i'd let you win on your home court). The man was a true rock star! i luve most the guitar in the first few albums. Man-o-man, it was like Jimmy never left, cept, there was something quite different. Something like a, honoring of femininity.... (those words are weak for the complexity of Prince's kingdom). He was a man of huge stature(ain't talk'in bout physical here)in the spiritual realm! He wasn't only a black man playing the baddest white man's rock, doing the best black man's move's. He showed sensitivity behind his harshness..He crossed all the genre's. This was a single minded man, not half this, or half that...

In 1997 he gave up meat, mac-N-cheez, canned cake frosting, stopped being a vagin, never again played his Dirty Mind hits and refused all manner of drugs, medicines, intoxicants and similar adulterants to the body.
