Damn, too young. I was never a fan but I did get to see him in 81, he opened for the Stones in LA, it did not go well
On October 9th, 1981, The Rolling Stones played the first of two nights at the Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum in California. According to many reports and rumors over the years, Prince opened the show wearing bikini briefs and a trench coat. Concert goers were not yet ready for the purple one’s androgynous stage attire and promptly hurled beer cans and insults at him. Prince only got a few songs into his set.

Hmm. I was also at that concert and I don't recall much about Prince at all. RIP.

Well, I guess he's finally partying like it's 1999.
He had amazing talent, for sure.
He'd produce, record and mix an entire album, playing all the instruments, drums, etc. himself. He did one like that way back in the late 1970's, long before it became fashionable for DIY recording artists to do that at home, on computers.
According to many reports and rumors over the years, Prince opened the show wearing bikini briefs and a trench coat.
I saw him on SNL in 1981, and he wore a trench coat and was dressed like Dr. Frankenfurter underneath. He'd spin around, and reveal the lingerie. It didn't seem overly strange, because SNL itself was pretty strange and new.
As I recall, the song was something about, "I just want to party up."
EDIT: I found the 1981 SNL performance of Party Up. The peep show starts at about 2:00.

This is the same video, on a Chinese website, in case the one above stops working.

Sometimes videos won't run properly in Firefox. Google Chrome seems to always work.

More people younger than me dying; it sucks! I always liked Prince, although having him warm up the for the Stones in the 80's may have not been the best pairing. And the guy could play guitar!

played basketball with or maybe it was Chapelle. I could never tell the two apart.
His diet was notoriously bad.
Music and game were on.

I was never a fan of Prince.
Then I had a lady friend that was way into Prince.
Then I became a fan of Prince.
Many fond memories made to Prince tunes. RIP

His diet was notoriously bad.
Junk food killed him? That's astonishing. He could have afforded an army of dieticians and chefs.
