Gotta vote Led on this one, and not just because their music a superior.
I used to work at a hotel two blocks from a theater. Met a lot of musicians when I worked there (even got to unload Lucille from BB's bus.)
By far the nicest I ever met was Robert Plant. When people recognized him in the lobby he would invite them to a cup of coffee, pretty cool!

You know that "Stairway" was a rip off, right?
LZ was a good band, but I think Pink Floyd blows them all away.

^^ this sentence is incomprehensible to me.
I've been listening to the entire contents of my ipod on repeat this summer while doing house projects. Decades of music and nothing repeated yet. I have most Stones, all of Zep and no who whatsoever. This thread has made me realize why I'm always happy when the zep songs come on: they were the only good part of high school for me. Oh I'm a little melodramatic but i grew up in el paso tx, a wasteland. (Sorry pocoloco1).
The only song that i think of when someone mentions the who is 'teenage wasteland'. I have One indelible memory of playing that song at full volume with eight kids in a pickup going way too fast coming back from Juarez to el paso one night.
edited: I mean shuffle, I've been listening to my iPod shuffle songs, sheesh...

While I was being bombastic, and yeah I kinda, sorta did, play this up as a wee bit of a troll... Bob Harington pretty much nailed my own genuine feelings
Matter of one's taste I guess. Totally agree with Keith and Pete, but can see what people like about Led Zepplin. I just don't (didn't?) like it that much. Here
And yeah Daph, time and place with memories is everything. As a fourteen year old I was so taken with the Who's Tommy album, that I missed the rise and fall of Jimi Hendrix! 58 yr old me finds this perplexing, but I also bought the Jesus christ superstar album out of my paper rte money so who knows what kind of crazy sh#t I was going through back then!
There is a bunch of music I don't especially like, that I will listen towhee it comes up on the radio ( green eyed lady/sugarloaf, crocodile rock, hockey cat, midnight tower, etc) because it is evocative of my high school, questing, growing up, early sexual time.
As far as time an place goThe tom tom club will always be the back row of the lodge lot 1983...
Every big wall I've done as had its own ear worm song!

Zeppelin is defintely in the purple zone here. Owned every album, like everyone I knew, but anymore, meh.
Achilles' Last Stand remains awesome though.
So, I saw the Who a week after Entwistle died, and Robert Plant was the opener.
He had a new album out, but the crowd only went wild when he did Led Zep songs.
It began to visibly annoy him.
So then I went to get some beverages.
Walked out of the concession just as Pete came out on stage and said:
"Fvck off, all of ya."
It was a great show, all the great Who rage songs with no new album to promote and another bandmate to mourn.
"We decided not to dedicate songs to John anymore, because he never shows up for practice."
We ducked out near the end and watched the big Tommy finale from the parking lot.
"We are, for the time being, The Who." {puts arm around Daltry, then staggers backward, mock-clutching his chest.}

You can dance to the Stones, and some of the Who (at least the older stuff).
Kind of hard to dance to Led Zep.

The reasons that Led Zep was better? Reasons they were more popular?
*Consistently harder rocking.
*Better songs, regardless of thievery.
*Consistently better hooks.
*Better lead guitar.
*Better lead singer.
*Better drummer.
*Better Bass.
Other than that I can't think of many reasons. Mua ha ha ha haaaaa!!!

Survival, are you by any chance dyslexic? You got each of those question backwards. You wrote "best" where it should be "worst." As a special ed teacher, can I offer you a referral?

Yeah, uh huh. Go ahead and post me a youtube of Pete's best "lead". No, not his rhythm chops, his best lead.
Same offer for Keith the rhythm chopper part two.
Yeah, that's what I thought. MUA HA HA hahahaaaa!!!! :)

A lot of the "lead" in the Who's music came from Mr. Entwistle's bass.
Did you visit Locker recently, and he accidentally locked you in his workshop with the glue cans open? That could explain your bizarre beliefs about music. Well, temporary delusions, not beliefs, because once you recover from the glue hallucinations, you'll probably become rational again.
