Still unbelievably weird but I'm ready to be surprised.
Everyone knows they can determine if a bullet wound was self inflicted.
Propellent residue coats everything at arms length.
Washakie County authorities would have done the test to victim and girlfriend and it must be negative. Else why the ongoing investigation?

The guy had been pressuring the girl for anal sex for months, to no avail. While camping there the night before, she says look, if you send that 12b route tomorrow with no falls on sight (knowing full well the route is way above his level) he can take her. But if he fails, no more talk about it period. He agrees. Well, next day pumped with excitement, the dude sends. Girl cannot believe it and freaks. Bantering back and forth goes on all day re his promised anal exploration opportunity. Bantering turns to arguing. It escalates as she wants nothing to do with his little butt warrior, she gets pissed, shoots dude. She freaks and now promises to give guy anal for sure is he keeps his mouth shut and goes with falling stuff onto tent, shot by unknown assailant as they run to car from falling stuff. He agrees.

I'm sure the wound was self-inflicted... or the girlfriend... or some unlucky accident involving responsible gun owners who happen to be shooting into the dark far, far away from the victim. I'm sure it had nothing to do with a dark skinned foreigner visiting a place that is 97% white and renowned for harboring white supremacists.

Could be strategic misdirection--wouldn't necessarily take anything at face value here.

Boys, were talking about Wyoming here. They are total experts in all things firearms.
So they must have tested the girlfriend for GSR also.
Although tape-lift samples from a climbers hands could contain
so many dirt particles that gunshot-residue will be difficult to pick out.
And don't forget the touch DNA analysis on the branch and the rock allegedly thrown at the tent. 5 or 6 skin cells and they can
sequence the dna of who ever touched them.

Your scenario is wrong, most likely you are just a typical climber who wishes he could date a city girl but is stuck with the granola humpers
never the less, somethings wrong, most likely she shot him for some other reason

1. Was In Wyoming
2. Was shot
3. Is or was an Ecuadorian
4. was a climber
5. Had a girl friend
6. Was, or contemplated, becoming a mule
7. Could distinguih a rock from a branch
8. Owned or had in his possession a tent
9. Knew Why-oming from Honduras

The Powell Tribune reports that Jose Mosquera (MOHS'-kehr-uh) is being treated at a hospital in Billings, Mont., where he is in stable condition.
Dang, that sure is a funny name. We best put the prununciation after it so common (white) folks (over 97% of are reeders) know how to say it.

The Ecuadorians have returned home. What a close call that was for Jose, who thankfully looks like he's going to recover quickly and fully. Here's to hope that they catch and successfully prosecute the person responsible.

Apparently the climber and his girl found my earlier comment speculating that the girl was responsible to be quite offensive. So, apologies there- it was not meant to be serious, but maybe that was lost in translation.
Im curious though, as to whether you will get notification if/when the responsible party is located now that you,ve returned home, and how international medical billing gets handled. Maybe you could keep us posted here at Supertopo regarding these and the victim,s recovery? Thanks
