During the Bush/ Kerry election campaign my wife and i climbed at Tensleep and that night stayed in a motel in Tensleep. I walked out to my car that morning to find a local redneck in the act of scraping the "Mssion Not Accomplished" sticker from the bumper.

i guess it really doesn't surprise me the instant default to petty prejudices and politics when reacting to a shooting incident in which nothing is known except someone was shot in the dark at 3 am in a camping area.
These news events have become Rorscharch tests for whatever grudge one happens to be carrying around.

Here's to a trouble free recovery for the shooting victim and his family.

Well, we know the shooter wasn't a inner city black teenager in a hoodie...

Yep.....it shouldn't surprise you.

I'll be surprised, however, if it turns out to be Nancy Pelosi's butler.

Hey, Ward, welcome to Supertopo! Facts don't mean sh#t round here.

I know. They don't mean a rats ass in society either.

The only persons who don't have the luxury of superimposing their own prejudices on this event is the detective assigned to the case, and the physicians treating the victim.

And the lowest population ( just over half of that of San Jose Ca ) all tucked into the ninth largest state. We're working out a few rough spots. First female governor though.

What kind of gun was it?

The second link says "small caliber".

Are small caliber guns allowed in Why-oming?

Any State with grizzly bears, wolves, wolverines AND black footed ferrets is okay in my book.

Probably some skin head rednecks who took notice to the Ecuadorian.

Small Caliber, no shots heard, probably a home made silencer.

So much WTF.

This is a rather optimistic statement. Being a detective or physician does not automatically exempt one from preexisting beliefs. People bring their own pasts to their present day.

Certainly we don't know what happened, but people can and do draw inferences based upon known facts. Sometimes these inference are surprisingly accurate; other times they are the polar opposite of that. Just as it's too soon to make hasty conclusions, it's probably also too early too call everyone out who made those hasty conclusions.

My best to the victim and his family.

Granted such a sentiment is idealistic. Still you expect these people do there jobs and not let garden variety biases interfere.
Isn't that what you would expect if you were a victim of this crime ?

Potrero is closer and safer

LOL! That is just what I thought when I read this. Americans were REAL quick to jump on their soapbox and proclaim EPC the most dangerous place on earth. However, I have yet to hear of a climber having any issues with violence of any sort (let alone getting shot!) in EPC.

I hope that the climber that was shot has a quick recovery and that they catch the worthless POS that did this.
