Hey. Any trees down out your way? Got hydro? Lots of opportunity for a saw out where we are.

Buddy with the thick glasses was an immediate deal breaker for me so I’ve never watched an episode of TPB.

Most of the Canadian population lives an urban lifestyle within a hundred miles of the US border.
Then there’s the rest of us.

This story sums it up.

Driving to the Chossies from Seattle we stopped at the BC Liquor Store in Skookumchuck.
It was a weekday and there wasn’t a car in the lot. Go figure. Walked in - not one customer.
Five employees were standing at their positions looking at us. Well, it appeared they were
looking at us but after a couple of seconds it was obvious that they had the dreaded 1000 yd
stare. The radio was blaring full blast - the first Soviet/ Canada Cup. I realized there was no
point in expecting any service so we waited for a break in the action. It took quite a while but
finally the puck got swallowed by somebody, or something like that. The zombies suddenly
awoke and feverishly saw to our needs. Luckily our needs were simple.

BTO BTO BTO

Had to type it 3 times, as the system would not accept just the three letters "BTO"!

Ah, Perry, you're such an old fuddy-duddy. One of my sons gave me some Trailer Park Boys episodes on DVD a while back, and I've been hooked ever since.

Maybe it's just that, living in the US, I'd forgotten what humor was. Seriously, can any of you Americans imagine a US network comedy show with an early episode entitled "Mrs. Peterson's Dog Gets F*#ked Up"?

Thank gods I've moved back north. (And, yeah, I looked for you in the grocery store (where we last met) yesterday when I was in Squamish, but you weren't there.)

And what about "Kids in the Hall"?

And the best skiing in the world?

And Hockey Night In Canada?

Best wishes for the holidays

Most people spell the name of the country wrong. The proper spelling uses only 3 letters, all consonants - CND.

C, eh? N, eh? D, eh?

Orr,is it Aye?

And,Bobs not your uncle.

Good wishes to you all as well!

(In Canada you can misspell as long as a classic hockey players name is used)

So we’re gonna be name droppers, eh? This wuz fer sale in the eponymous museum.
Sadly, I had flown there so it just wasn’t on. Oh, 1 pt for Hosers and 20 points for Yanks
if you know the town.

A bonus 20 pts for the Hoser who knows the rare reptile found very nearby,
and I don’t mean in a bar. Yanks need not apply.

And talk about coinkidinks - La Femme just showed me a scandalous pic from
Liard Hot Springs - hands down the best on the planet, as long as you don’t get et by a griz.

A different part of the culture:

I went to visit a girl who lived in Sylvan Lake, Alberta and do some climbing in the Rockies and Bugs. While I was with the girl the provincial workers started a work action for more pay. They didn't all go on strike, just those that they thought would draw the public's attention. They were right. It was the prison guards and beer store workers that went on strike.

And while they are the epitome of Canadiana to us dumb southerners (i.e., 'Mericans) the RCMP aren't the nicest people in the country. The jail in the Red Deer, Alberta RCMP post is in the basement. I was told by the girl I was visiting that no one being brought down to the jail made it all the way down on their feet. She should know, her brother was one who didn't make it all the way down.

I'm still impressed by the Psyche Ledge party. Never a peep from the LEOs. Anywhere in the States and the authorities would have shut it down at least or busted someone in the process. Even though it is a rather peaceful gathering it wouldn't fly down here. That's quite an improvement over getting thrashed for trying to crash the local high-school graduation party like Daryl and Dave did.

Cheers y'all.
