And yet there are anomalies like this;

And exactly how do they figure a global mean temperature rise of 0.8c. What's is the observational means of measurement for the pre satellite era? Isn't the very term "global Warming" incorrect?

Yes Rick, it's not really called that any longer. That's the default term for morons.

The President is giving a Climate Change speech on Tuesday. It's not a speech on Global Warming, although they may change the text for residents of Alaska.

Ron, that CO2 magic happens under ideal conditions. Unfortunately, CO2 can also exacerbate drought and flooding, neither of which are all that great for plant growth.

Well, unlike the esteemed dr. Christ, you can at least spell moron McHale. That's a start. While your guys are clutching at straws to keep the phony CAGW consensus together their is a growing consensus of scientists believing the globe is going into prolonged period of low TSI and solar magnetic activity, therefore cooling. Anyone up for a wager on the prevailing consensus circa 2018?

Funny, it's your side that seems to like to bet Rick. I think that's just another form of hyperbole.

I'll match the bets. The devil is in the details so we must precisely define how consensus will be judged. Who holds the cash?

How about something like the Nenana ice classic? We start with today's mean annual average temp and the closest to predicting the temp in 2018 gets the pot?

agreed- the Ron and Ed part. As for scientists, i'm very confident the real science is on my side.

We could go either the prevailing consensus judged by an independent review of the papers of 2018 or the pot on the global mean of 2018 as compared to the previous 12 month period from the start of the pool. Or we could do both.

To keep this on the up and up i suggest the proceeds go to a charity of the winners choice. We don't want to make the house of Mac into a online gambling hall.

Yes 50% plus one, or better yet the closest to the 2017-2018 global mean average as judged by an average of the satellite data and compared to that Berkely group current average Ed linked a few posts back

Hey, fuking morans, what are the two physical processes that drive the jet stream?

Close Rong, but the two main things that influence the jet stream are the Earth's rotation and ATMOSPHERIC HEATING. An anomalous jet stream indicates anomalous conditions. The Earth's rotation hasn't changed much...

The Dust Bowl was mostly a man-caused event.

Most of the sturdy native grasses were ripped out by the deep plowing used for the massively expanded wheat farming.

The warming of the arctic region has a huge impact on the jetstream.

Randisi, it is a long standing tradition for educated folks to educate the uneducated... and make fun of fukwads who remain willfully ignorant. It has nothing to do with any academic degree.

We use Climate Change so folks(like Anderson) who don't understand how an average works, might actually learn something.
