Next thing you know they'll be adding an N in front of CC, for natural, and claiming that's what they meant all along since man is a natural part of the ecosystem.

As far as erraticism in the jet stream; has anyone looked into the point we are in in axial tilt coupled with earths currently reduced geomagnetic field and solar wind/flare fluxes?

Time to agree to disagree with Ron and Chief...both have qualities worth emulating. They make a difference in our world. Can't change their minds with any evidence, logic, science. Can't debate with nice guys because it will devolve back into meanness...and I don't want to be mean to people who have proven they are good peeps...

A mind is a terrible thing to waste Christ and yours is definitely landfill. Open your eyes buddy, ask questions, develop new ideas because the old CAGW dogma has fallen off the chart in observational refute.

Getting frustrated while debating and having a few/few to many drinks leads to meanness

No amount of proof can alter their opinion...wich they are entitled to...

It isn't healthy or productive to be angry because you can't change someone's mind...especially when it turns out they have qualities you admire.

I still like to read the science posted by whoever posts it...it is just time for me to let go of the idea that stubborn people will change their position...that stubbornness serves a climber well on the rock.

I need to do it for me to be a happier person...just let go and let them be who they are...they are good people and I can be happier by just accepting that.

FWIW, I don't drink... much. My meanness is to be blamed on my black soul and has nothing to do with alcohol. :)

I got called out for "being a dick" on stupidtaco at the bar a while back. Why am I such a dick to that Ron Anderson guy when I'm such a wonderful guy IRL? Because he deserves it (sometimes).

Imagine if you spent your life learning about and creating art. A decent person who knows nothing about art might check it out, not appreciate it, and move on. A fukwad would start ripping it apart without knowing the first thing about composition, color, texture, tone, etc. Fukwads deserve every bit of hate they get.

If I dis Ron's animal stuffing, I deserve all the blow back I get.

If I dis Chuff's service in the Navy, same.

If I dis Rick Sumner's career in animal erotica with stuffed seals, same.

I know nothing about those subjects and all I have to offer is my opinion. If my opinion contrasts with their years of experience, they have every right to set me straight. If I don't accept their expertise, that would make ME the dick, not them.

When they dis thousands of hardworking professional scientists and they don't even understand the basics of statistics (averages, variance, etc), they are fukwads and deserve every bit of meanness they get here... and then some. They are despicable.

fwiw I'm an alcoholic who quit and am in a cycle of relapse ....quit....relapse....quit.

I like to debate but in person...if I disagree in person and nothing can move us from our positions we can still be friends because you can see other areas you have common ground, things you like and respect them for, and because your friends can let you know your being a dick...

Online it is way to easy to be a dick, get away with it, and not do anything to improve anyone's quality of life...

This is just me doing a self assessment of things I want to change in my life...I'm not a mean guy in person so why be a mean guy online when someone has a different opinion...nothing productive occurs...in fact something destructive happens by impacting someone else and myself with negative waves...

youve dissed my forestry experience

No, I dissed you saying some guy had some idea and nobody would listen to him... but not being able to elaborate on the details. I dissed you for spouting off about stand density index vs. basal area because measuring basal area is one way of calculating SDI. I dissed your lack of understanding of the measurements you were using. I dissed your overzealous promotion of used tires for ecosystem restoration. Etc.

my wildlife experience

Bullsh#t, I asked about skinning a sqewrl and thanked you for your input. I asked about habitat for the owl in the old growth of Woodfords, and thanked you for your input. I dissed your claim that a fish finder is more reliable than electroshocker for determining ALL the species of fish in an area. Etc.

and every other thing INCLUDING my climbing.

Yes, I dis your past attempts at recreational activity... get over it.

I LONG AGO stopped any rational discourse with you for that very reason.

Based on the sh#t you post here, I suspect you haven't had a rational discourse in your whole life.

So you long ago decided whom you like/dislike on here for your own agenda/issues and it started way before this thread and our participation in it.

Not true. I'm still on the fence about you... ask Norton.

Axial tilt changes gradually over 40,000+ years.

Begging your pardon Dr. Christensen...Earth's axial tilt doesn't change...being stable at 23.4 degrees to the ecliptic.

Perhaps you're alluding to earth's precession, sir...or the wobble in which its axis traces a circle every 26,000 years. (A change in Earth's axial tilt would lead to much more or less seasonal extremes in temperature)

Sorry, Wes...just helping you adjust to the prototypal nitpicking undergraduate who interupts your lectures with caviling minutiae...inessential to the discussion.

Pardon not granted, because you are wrong. :)

For the past 5 million years, Earth's obliquity has varied between 22° 02' 33" and 24° 30' 16", with a mean period of 41,040 years.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Axial_tilt#Long_term

Axial tilt (obliquity) refers to the angle between the rotational axis of the planet and the planet's orbital plane. Procession is also important, but differenty.

Point is, Rick's grasping has failed him again.

An underburn near Spooner Summit got "out of control" and resulted in a pretty good distribution of moderate to low burn instensity, with only a few patches of high intensity. Can't miss it when driving out of the basin... check it out... it is interesting to compare to the stand replacing Angora and Gondola fires.

The work they have been doing lately is looking pretty good. Nice age distribution, good spacing, etc. Near Camp Richardson on 89 is a nice road side example. THAT is what our forests should look like... yet they get complaints from the public daily. More uneducated fools offering their OPINIONS despite the FACTS.

Yo Ron, if only we could devise a system of objective observations and statistical tests that could show thinned forests are safer and healthier. Actually, there are good people working on this... and it is VERY clear to anyone willing to learn. Problem is, much of the population THINKS they know what forests are supposed to look like and would rather stay willfully ignorant and stubborn in their OPINIONS than pull their heads out of their asses.

Reminds me of another topic...

Yes, you're right in the connotation that the ecliptic( orbital plane), itself, varies 2.5 degrees over 40,000 years.

The axis of the planet remains oriented in the same direction with reference to the background stars and galaxies...

Which axis... magnetic or rotationic?

Begging your pardon Dr. Christensen...Earth's axial tilt doesn't change...being stable at 23.4 degrees to the ecliptic.

I suppose you meant "the ecliptic" of the background stars and galaxies?
