You are free to climb all the mountains and take any photographs you want now Bobby,
and you have left behind such an incredible legacy.
My thoughts and prayers are with the Model family, who have shown such an incredible amount of faith, endurance and love.

What a terrible tragedy.
I didn’t know him, but felt like I did while following the other thread. My heart goes out to his family and friends for their gallant efforts to help him after the injury.

I just heard the news. What an enormous loss. My condolences to Bobby's family especially, who have worked so hard with him as he recovered from S. Africa. I'll miss you Bobby.

With deep sympathy for the Model family I write to say farewell to Bobby. When I started climbing in 1973 in the Cody area, I had no idea who would follow in the future and Bobby was the one we all looked at and followed his accomplishments and achievements throughout his adventurous life. His images of adventure and human strife throughout the world are something I will always cherish. God Bless the Model family in this tragic ending of hope and prayer. Thank you Bobby for sharing my rope.

Well Bobby, I have to tell you that I miss your infectious smile and good humor. As I sit and watch the sun dance in the trees, I wonder where you are, what you are doing and what you see, and I know that it must be glorious because you, my friend, have passed through the gates of Heaven and I know that you were received with open arms and I know that the restrictions that were placed upon your body here on Earth have been lifted and you are free to run and dance and climb any mountain that you want. I hope that you are climbing in a wonderful place and you are enjoying every minute of it! As we on Earth mourn for you, we know that you are in a place that you are again free to be you and this brightens our hearts through the sadness that we feel. We will miss you so much. I will always remember those short visits when you came in to pick up your mail. I am so glad I got to see you at the gallery. This, I will always treasure in my memories. I remember saying Hi to you and you saying Hi back and touching my hand. It was very special for me. Yes, you will be so missed.
To the Model family, my condolences and I know that there could be no greater sadness in your hearts. Anne, I love you and you and Faith were courageous in your own right during this long battle. Bobby could never have asked for more and you fought hard. The fight is over now and I hope with all of my heart that the two of you find some comfort and joy can return to your lives again one day soon. Peace be with you as you move through the motions during the next few weeks. I am so sorry for this tragedy that all of you were made to endure.

Bobby's death is tragic. His and his family's fight for his survival is heroic and inspirational. Those of us on this forum who followed this horrible saga were blessed to witness his family's constant love and devotion and hope that Bobby would pull through. God had other plans for him.
God bless his family and friends in this most difficult time.

Starting Sept. 26, Rich Clarkson Associates of Denver puts on a week-long workshop Photography at the Summit in Jackson Hole. Rich told me that Bobby's mother has sponsored two Wyoming students with scholarships to the workshop. Bobby had a close association with Rich and his agency. Rich is also part of the National Geographic network, having been the photo editor (proper title?) there for one period.
Bobby's spirit will live on in the students his family inspires.
