The Muslim religion is the world's fastest growing, much faster than Roman Catholicism in the Third World and Africa. Alexander created an East-West synthesis empire in the Middle East that lasted nearly 400 years because, after the big battle was won, he used his brains to create a new civilization. The good vs. evil Cold War nuk'em option just isn't going to work in a world where we are rapidly becoming the minority. There has to be someone in the State Department with a position paper on how to win the peace in Iraq and the whole Middle East without blowing up the area (along with the natural resources located there: i.e. the oil). Why aren't they pushing their position in the public media? Dunno. There has to be a viable answer besides sitting there and taking casualities or cutting loses and running away.

It sounds as though the people who are formulating US foreign policy in the Middle East are the same naive suckers who created the pre-conditions for WWII by trying to Christianize China during the 1930s. What do you think would happen if you went down into the Deep South and tried to change their religion? The good old boys would be up in the hills with their rifles for the next 200 hundred years. You might notice that people don't take kindly to outsiders who try to "change their religion". Before this is over, I think quite a few cities in the Middle East are going to look like Warsaw after the Rising in August 1944. Clothing misguided foreign policy in patriotic rhetoric is not going to make it any less misguided. I still think that the "divide & conquer" way would be a heck of a lot cheaper in lives and resources in the long run.

BLAH, BLAH, BLAH....IF THIS DICTATOR OF OURS IS SO "PRO-LIFE" WHY IS HE SENDING HUNDREDS OF GOOD AMERICANS OVER THERE TO DIE AND FOR WHAT GOOD REASON?

NOW HE DOESN'T WANT TO FURTHER BIOLOGICAL STEM CELL RESEARCH BECAUSE HE FEELS EMBRYONIC CELLS ARE A FORM OF LIFE...WHEN IN FACT THIS RESEARCH CAN BE USED TO HELP SAVE LIVES.

DOES ANYTHING THIS GUY DOES MAKE ANY SENSE?

HE IS A COMPLETE FOOL! OUR FOREFATHERS WOULD BE ASHAMED!

I CAN THINK OF NO GOOD REASON AMERICANS ARE FIGHTING IN IRAQ RIGHT NOW, AND NOTHING SO FAR HAS BEEN PROVIDED!!!

WHAT'S GOING ON IN AFGHANISTAN RIGHT NOW ANYWAY???

"Only the dead have seen the end of war."

~ Socrates

"Everyone knows what went down
Because the news was spread all over town
And fact is only what you believe
And fact and fiction work as a team
It's almost always fiction in the end
That content begins to bend
When context is never the same

And it's all relative
Even if we don't understand
And it's all understood
Especially when we don't understand
Then it's all just because
Even if we don't understand
Then lets all just believe

I was reading a book
Or maybe it was a magazine
Suggestions on where to place faith
Suggestions on what to believe
But I read somewhere
That you've got to beware
You can't believe anything you read
But the good Book is good
And it's all understood
So don't even question
If you know what I mean

But it's all relative
Even if you don't understand
Well it's all understood
Especially when you don't understand
And it's all just because
Even if we don't understand
Then lets all just believe

But there you go once again
You missed the point and then you point
Your fingers at me
And say that I said not to believe
I believe
I guess
I guess it's all relative"

Iran hasn't threatened it's neighbors and I don't believe there is conclusive evidence that it is developing Nukes. It's going to be hard to convince the world another WMD prevention strike is justified.

Of course Iran probably want's nukes. They have a lot of oil and gas and we keep threatening to invade. I'd want nukes too!

Now if the US even remotely seemed to be honoring it's obligations under the Nonproliferation Treaty that we seem to be using to justify this violence, we might have half a case, but our current nuke profile show zero intention of getting rid of our nukes ever.

We've got to change. The whole world sees that we don't practice what we preach. We all know it too.

We plan to build new kinds of nukes and now we've changed our strategic nuclear policy to allow nuke strikes against non-nuke nations and also allow first use of nukes.

Why even bother with all this hypocrisy? Can't we just say we're the biggest, baddest mo-fos in the world and better do what we say or die, die, die?

The Muslim world is going to get rich, rich, rich as the oil starts to run out and get way more expensive. It's too bad we didn't show them more respect. That's all it would have taken to prevent the explosion of extremism, as most of it has been a reaction to US intervention and having our favorite kings and dictators jammed down their throats. Serious fundamentalist Islam would have generally faded from the scene because they escew the science and technology that would have gradually empowered the moderate side of Islam to rise to power in their respective countries.

Of course we can push other countries around and expect not to suffer because of it because we're so powerful that we don't face the consequences of our actions. I'm afraid I'll be around when the tables turn. What would happen to any country that didn't have nukes, didn't have the US as a staunch friend, and invaded another nation under false pretenses?

Sorry for the rant. I just can't believe we're in this mess and no impeachment is under way. Guess lies about war don't rise to the crime of concealing blow jobs.

Peace

Krikey! I've created a monster!
guess I better hop on my own band wagon....

If the US is so against everyone having WMD then why don't they give theirs up as a first step?
Go ahead and say we need them....
"to secure peace is to prepare for war"
BS...It's all rooted in immaturity. That "gimmie, gimmie, gimmie"/ gotta have the newest bestest toys on the block mentality..........
If everyone, and I mean EVERYONE would put all their energy into efforts of peace instead of war we would all be better off.
Redirect this energy and turn it into somthing positive.
anyway...

it was abandoned when the data said it would need ungodly $$$ to fix it in the future....

I am beginning to believe that George Bush doesn’t know right from wrong, that the guy is living in a world of deception.

Firstly, he stands by Karl Rove when it appears that Rove committed a felony.

And now…

“Rafael Palmeiro had played for the Rangers when George W Bush owned the team, and the president backed his former employee. Describing Palmeiro as ‘a friend’, Bush declared: "He's testified in public, and I believe him." It might be noted here the resurgence of interest in the subject had been sparked in a large measure by Bush's digression to the subject of the steroid epidemic in his State of the Union Address. Buttressed by the show of support from the White House, Palmeiro agreed to participate in a tele-conference call with sportswriters later in the day.

Is he innocent before being proved guilty? I’d say that testing positive for a banned substance is pretty much an admission of guilt, despite the disclaimer by the man he had never "knowingly" ingested performance-enhancing drugs, even though Jose Canesco, he who is apparently being demonized for telling the truth (if indeed it is the truth and there is no reason to doubt otherwise), claims/alleges that he shared steroids with Palmeiro.

One can’t help but wonder if GW is still on drugs himself.

Ahhh...nothing more satisfying than seeing a government agent who takes pride in overexcercising his power in his on time and argues for more government restrictions on individual civil rights in his off time. :-)

Just when I thought this thread was dead, here comes someone to revive it! AARRRRR!!!! Seriously, can't we all just get along? really. Get rid of politricks and countries, after all, countries are just little lines drawn on a map by some as#@&%e somewhere. Lets drop the whole religion thing too. Everyones relationship, or lack of, with the great gig in the sky should be personal. Let bygones be bygones. I know, you're thinking it will never happen. Well, you know what Lennon said,
