Just when you think the emotion must be played out, this thread keeps moving on in often unexpected directions. So cool. Cheers, all!

I asked my girls (3 and 7 years old) what they wanted to do last Saturday. The 7 year old said road trip - The 3 year old said go for a hike. We hopped on 395 and landed at Travertine Hot Springs. Best day we've had in a long time.

Like I told Hobo--some of the most touching and least expected stuff from some of the hardest-climbing guys. It's totally made my day-week-month-year.

Parenting and climbing have some things in common... Both catalyze golden qualities you may not have known you had, and both require you to confront darker qualities you may wish you didn't have.
And they're both the best.

Awesome stuff guys. Mine are 4-1/2 and 2, so I'm still enjoying the toddler fun. They've already been indoctrinated too. Going up around the Needles this weekend for some hiking, Sequoia huggin' and playin' in the dirt. Can't wait.

Some of you are assuming your kids will want to climb. Mine have done a few pitches here and there but never caught the bug.
Maybe your kids will rebel and become Republican accountants.
Having said that 2 of the best climbers around here are offspring of long time local climbers.

While he's too young to drive a car, he had a blast driving the boat.

A few years back, but a good time none the less.

Ah, found a pic of them fiddling around, though it got resized and lost some res. The two boys are in front, my daughter is pretty much smack dab in the middle.
