We are in the middle of a one month road trip. We're staying at a friends home in Tucson. My boys are both drinking water from these glasses that are about the size of their heads. something about seeing those little hands holding those big cups that made me wistful for how precious my family is
funny about what sets off things in your brain

Hobo,
What you wrote about your boys' little hands on the drinking glasses brought a lump to my throat, it was so unexpected, so cherishing, so real.
Not the sort of thing men write about on climbing forums usually...and even more profound because of that.
Thank you.

Enjoy it, as they grow up fast! I was holding a friends baby daughter the other day, and reminded how amazing it is when a little one wraps their little hand around one of your fingers.

Just finishing a week in Moab with my two daughters, 7 & 5 , didn't do much climbing, but they rafted the CO first time and were great in Indian Creek hiking.
I love when they grab hold of one finger and look up and say "daddy, your the best. Can we live here?"
Leave for home tomorrow.
We'll be back!

Mines just heading off for college in the fall. All I can say is buckle up, start saving for college, and enjoy every minute you can because it all goes by at blinding speed from hera on out.

Parenthood, there's nothing else like it. I knew where Tolman's was going from the beginning; my daughter was thirty seconds old, we were dealing with blood and adrenaline; a digital thermometer meeped next to her head, and she reached out and squeezed my finger. Some things you can never forget...
And what Joe said, photos to follow.

Awesome! Congrats... it's the greatest ride you'll ever have. And the biggest workout. You will think you have gone insane at times and then you'll head right back in the door for jonesin' for more.
And don't let the fearmongers dissuade you... you can have an active lifestyle and take them anywhere AND have a great time:
