Jello,
I am now living in Ogden, if your project needs more money I could donate some art work for an auction or whatever. Maybe you could ask everyone to donate something that could be sold for the cause. I also think a taco fest sounds great. Let me know, joan@eCelebrityPortraits.com

Jello -- that's so commendable to provide something so positive for the community.

As a high-schooler I was totally inspired by what guys like you and Grello were doing in the early 1970s. So inspired in fact that my climbing buddy and I found a nearby concave mountain face that, to our teenage adventure-inspired minds, seemed an awful lot like the Eiger nordwand. We made a mid-winter ascent (to get maximum Eiger-like conditions) which turned out to be quite an epic -- including a nighttime start and bivouac to avoid out the avalanches which roar down the lower face. You ought to recognize this mountain, as I imagine it's pretty much in your backyard..

I may not be one of the $3k fat cats you're looking for but I'll find a way to contribute to your endeavor. And the Taco Fest idea sounds great -- it'd be fun to get back to the hometown for something so worthy.

EDIT: Duh, just realized I'm about a year late -- but I hope Jello's initiative is moving forward.

Munge- we've kind of gone off the deep end with the ice tower. We've moved the location to downtown, and re-designed it for year-round use. Of course this means the price tag has gone way up, too, so we're still raising money. But the city is behind the project all the way, and we'll get it done. Wil and his wife, Julie came last month and we had a great time eating and drinking, and Wil got some good climbing in with his guide, Doug Nidever. Next month Mack is coming. Doug will again be the guide. I'm really enjoying the slave part, especially since I had the full assistance of my daughter, Sonja, to do the shopping and cooking!

Joan, that's a great offer! Let's get together and discuss your ideas! My officve phone is 392-9181.

OD, that sounds like a real adventure! The picture below is the south side of Ben Lomond, in winter conditions. Probably more like the conditions you experienced?
