So Mack, who was the annonymous bidder, has agreed to the new deal, and to go public. Now, let's see what Wil says he's been able to sweet-talk his wife into. Thanks to all for your interest and support!

Congratulations, Mack! I had the feeling you were the anonymous bidder(don't think it was too hard to figure out, though). What a great gift - to yourself and the organization Jello's fundraising for.

Way to go Mack!
Thanks for the great offer Jello. The wife and I had Part 1 of the talk last night and we'll conclude tonight. All looks favorable.

Took me awhile to reply cause I am leaving my job Friday so I am training my replacement for the past two weeks meaning I am knott on my pc at work any more. But that will be over come Friday.

email incoming.

Aloha,

Some kind of perilous journey for young Breashears there. What sorts of early films did he make, anyhow? Ho man, still laughing...

Recieved an e-mail from Wil in the wee hours of the morning. HE'S IN, TOO! So, Supertopians, I am humbled by your good spirits and generousity. Thanks to Mack and Nohea and Fatrad, and all of you, really, Ogden Climbing Parks fund drive has been given a nice jump-start.

Mal Daly e-mailed me with an idea that might allow more of you to get involved, too. He's kind of a genious at this stuff. I'll post it up later today, after I think through the details more fully.

The people here on ST are a special bunch. Thanks, again to you all!

That was great thing to throw out to us Jello! Yes Wine Pleese, and the back yard in a bivy sack will be just fine.
Great Job Mack... looks like we both got into a pretty cool adventure and was able to help out a little in the process.

Maybe we should organize a fundraising Taco-fest in Ogden similar to the sushi fest. Never know what might happen when a bunch of us get together...

Please look at this project in detail. Ogden, UT climbers, bikers, hikers, and all other outdoor enthusiasts are very divided regarding this park. This is part of a larger development project that will dramatically impact a beautiful, natural mountain environment in an area that is quickly losing ground, literally, to big business, big money, and questionable politics (as if politics aren't already questionable). Make sure you believe that the values of climbing are represented here.

You are mistaken, Troy. Ogden Climbing Parks is not a part of any larger "development" project taking place in the area. I assume you're referring to Chris Peterson's proposal to develop a ski area on his property, which includes Waterfall Canyon. OCP has nothing to do with that. We have, however, entered into an agreement with Chris wherein I traded the design of some va feratta in Waterfall Canyon, for the right of all "real" climbers, to climb in the Canyon freely and at no charge. In constructing the via feratta, a new trail was built that gives access to previously untouched beginner to intermediate climbing, and a handful of potential sport routes. Additionally, Chris has agreed to let us do some low-impact ice farming on his cliffs. I think it's a good trade-off.

Whether or not the resort development will go in, in Malan's Basin which lies about a mile east of and above Waterfall Canyon, I don't know. There are a million hurdles for Chris to leap, before it can happen. He has a dream, which is being put to private and public scrutiny. If he succeeds in realizing his dream, it will be a tribute to his tenacity. Personally, I have mixed feelings about the resort, but I'm a believer in private property rights, and if Chris can answer satisfactorily all the challenges being put to him, I can see the benefits it might have for the Ogden economy. But I repeat, Ogden Climbing Parks, and I personally, have nothing to do with the resort plans.

You mean I can bring my mtn bike as well? Sweet! Naw this trip will be climbing.

Mack, I am just going to play it by ear. I’ll go according to Jello’s schedule. I may visit my folks in upstate NY this fall. If so I’ll shoot you an email and maybe I could trouble you to show me some Vermont rock. I always go up to the Daks when I visit them.
