Kingtut: I think everyone acknowledges the problem with Walmart, yet race to suck Yvon's dick. Your sensibilities can be bought for 1%?

Kingtut: And why does PG need to survive? Why do we need more bits of war-won petroleum spun into garments overseas? Again, not coming down on PG. only an identifiable example.
Wouldn't we all be better with less?

Don't we all only have ourselves to blame for that?

Absolutely. Union workers, for example, forgot where they came from and how they got there. They were making a good living with good benefits and good conditions. They forgot, or worse never knew, about the people that fought, and died in the labor movement. So, distracted by BS "social" issues they started voting against their best interests and for the plutocrats.

Humans are lazy. That's why we are such a successful species. We are lazy, so we invent easier ways of doing things. Shrewd people have taken advantage of that trait to pull the wool over our eyes.

DMT: what will be the impetus for paradigm change?
Or, will it all level out organically.? is it possible(sustainable) for all to be first world nations?
Or, will we all be 2nd world nations? Or worse?

Gary:
I need to think about that. For the record, I am a (proud) Union member. is there a political party, domestically, that represents my best interests?
I see one party representing capital politics, and one representing individual identity politics.
Who represents Labor(middle) class politics with anything more than lip service?

Whenever possible, I try to buy domestic products. For the record, I've plenty of Patagonia bits that I enjoy. I recognize that I am part of the problem of which we speak.

DMT.
Thanks for that video. I will watch it in its entirety with my daughter tonite.
Is emerging markets a term that still applies to developing nations and labor markets in flux?
What happens when there are no more "cheap labor" markets to tap?
At that point does it become a zero sum game?
You are right about skilled labor being the force that draws.

Well, there are, but really marginal. The only thing really close is a caucus in the Democratic Party called the Democratic Socialists of America. When the old Socialist Party finally gave up the ghost in the 1960s, Michael Harrington set up the DSA. His idea was that to effect any sort of change for the good was to work within the Democrats.

I swallowed my pride and joined this year. I'm now (shudder) a registered Democrat. Ugh.

DMT:
Also I think we are going to have a lot more choice and variety of domestic manufacturing in the coming years,

When we run out of cheap oil, things will change for the better. IMO.

Our generations, both BB'ers and GX'ers have screwed the next few generations in a way that just may be unprecedented for America. While we were basking in the glory of predecessor's successes, we fell asleep at the wheel and have allowed the elite and corporate interests to all but plunder everything that made us great in the first place.

I feel really bad for my kids and grandkids because we are leaving them with a death spiral of epic proportions. If you think the removal of Trump will be the end of it, you are dead wrong. The elite and corporations will not let go of their grip of death on our democracy without a fight. At this point, they have all the wealth, and all the power.

I never thought I would say this, but I would expect it will take an actual revolution as in a physical / violence driven French-style of revolution, to get us back on the right track and prevent the implosion of our country. If you have never heard the intro to Rise Against's Survivor's Guilt, you should take a listen. The lyrics are below, and they are spot on:

"What are you talking about? America is not going to be destroyed."

"Never?
Rome was destroyed, Greece was destroyed, Persia was destroyed, Spain was destroyed.

All great countries are destroyed, why not yours? How much longer do you think your own country will last? Forever?"

This reminds me of high-school... He said... She said.... No I didn't... Yes you did.... etc.

I did a lot of climbing in highschool too. No effect then either.
