Logan Ladd is the guy to boulder with. He is a few blocks closer to Charley.
Look for the Blue Tacoma across from Franklin School north side.

Charles Manson Was Not a Product of the Counterculture
https://www.nytimes.com/2017/11/20/opinion/charles-manson-counterculture.html?rref=collection%2Fsectioncollection%2Fopinion&action=click&contentCollection=opinion®ion=stream&module=stream_unit&version=latest&contentPlacement=5&pgtype=sectionfront
But with some historical distance, and after Mr. Manson’s death on Sunday at age 83, we can see that the simplistic counterculture dichotomy of “freaks” versus “squares” caused people to lump Mr. Manson in with the freaks (for he certainly wasn’t a square). Apart from the long hair and the casual sex, however, Mr. Manson, who spent much of his life in prison with a swastika carved into his head, had more in common ideologically with far-right groups like the John Birch Society than he did with the anarchic leftism of, say, the Yippies.
Mr. Manson was not the end point of the counterculture. If anything, he was a backlash against the civil rights movement and a harbinger of white supremacist race warriors like Dylann Roof, the lunatic fringe of the alt-right.

Chuck was a paranoid schizophrenic, the product of a clearly diagnosed mental disorder.
He would have had the same condition regardless of his upbringing or political affiliations.

Lovesasoline- that is an interesting study you posted. I used know a bit about these guys from my reporting days.
The idea that there were additional murders in Inyo County has never really panned out, but two additional deaths do make you wonder.
Look up Karl Stubbs in Olancha, and phillipo tennerelli.
The CHP (If I remember right) put the Tennerelli case into their follow up Manson report. His VW bug was found wrecked off of Father Crowley point in Death Valley, while his body was found in a hotel in Bishop. He death was ruled a suicide by shotgun I believe.
Stubbs was beaten to death in Olancha in 1968, he decribed young drifter perpetrators before he died.

Manson was a Neo-Nazi, that is obvious.
The apatite to start a race war is a far-right ambition, the opposite of a free loving liberal hippy.
His cult was based him being the Authoritarian leader controlling his minions, just like many other religions.
The comparison to the Birchers was from the article I cut and pasted.
I don't know much about them except they are also far-right loons that hate all other races.

Craig- you realize Manson wanted to start a race war in which whites would lose - right?
Trying to claim his actions were that of a far right ideologue is WAY off the mark

WRONG
as usual
he sure wasn't a liberal
He wanted a race war to start a revolution
He carved a F-ing Swastika on his forehead, you can't get any more Neo-Nazi than that
Which proves you tripily WRONG

He may have been a neo-nazi back in the 60's, but I think of him more as using prison rules for race relations.
He was also a pimp and used the techniques of running prostitutes to get what he wanted whether it's a place to stay or a record contract.
Hippie? Only in the sales pitch to get the young women into the cult.
He convinced Diane Lake's parents to give her to Mason at age 14. He probably used the hippie free love sales pitch on her. It also puts him into the realm of rapist, in addition to murderer.

You are right Craig- what right wingers truly want is for all whites to be eliminated in a race war save for a handfull of drug addled freaks who will rule over the surviving black population
Makes perfect sense
Just like thinking that an anti communist organization is similar to the goals of outlaw freaks living a transient communal life
You have it all figured out
