Fet...Quit stirring the pot...A friend that got popped smugling hash oil in his gas tank into Canada said the canadian border gaurds are ex-prison guards that can spot monkey business...We drove from Sandpoint one night north across the border with a M-1 carbine sitting in the back window and an ashtray full of roaches.. No questions asked entering and leaving...

Tradmanclimbs...my whole point is that if Canada was supposedly a free place there wouldn't be a law against an LE bringing a handgun into the country in the first place. I think citizens should be allowed to...maybe in advance get a background check and then declare them at the border if they must?
Jody, you're seriously missing the point here. By your logic, I could say "If the US was a free place, there wouldn't be any law against bringing a bunch of heroin into the country in the first place."
Do you really believe that because you think your group is awesome, that other country's laws shouldn't apply to you? And, if so, do you think Canadians (or Germans or Chinese or Iranians) should be allowed into the US with whatever the f*#k they want to bring in? Just because they think they're above your country's law?
Heroin? Handguns? Nuclear weapons? Bio-weapons?

well now ghost I'd say you show me the veracity of Jody's statement. shiet no a place ain't free if there's laws agin' heroin, high cap 5.56 rifles, purse pistols, pocket bratwursts, public rubber trampery or other broadly appealing but potentially socially disruptive amenities

OK! I think I see what Jody is trying to have us "little-people!" understand.
Cops should never be questioned or, God-forbid! Fuked-with, for carrying their guns anywhere on Earth, because they are the good-guys!
Jody?
Right?

Ghost...never mind. You don't get it either.
No, Jody, I do get it. I was raised by a cop, and count a cop as one of my best friends and favorite climbing partners. But neither of those cops would have considered themselves above the law in either their own country, or any other country. Cops that do so consider themselves are the root of a whole forest of problems.
It's you who has the blinders on.

The hotshot crew I worked on got sent to N. Ontario to fight some fires. We flew into Timmins and went north from there. They provided us canvas tents and we cut trees to make poles. We'd helicopter around to different fires in the area. We were out there for weeks! Super fun and unique- really great folks to work with. It was funny seeing burly fire fighter guys speaking French.

Great thread, love the stories.
Cops pulled me over and made me pull down my pants on the side of the road one once. Another time they cut me off and pulled guns. Both times I was young, it was late at night, and they were looking for someone else. Just doing their job I guess. At least I never got shot. Being white probably helps.

Jody, ask the friendly hosers about the time their army gave away THOUSANDS of fully automatic rifles! After a while somebody said “Maybe that wasn’t a great idea, eh?” Then they asked for them back! LOL Quite a lot were not returned. PLEASE cut me some slack on the details as I didn’t take notes when my Canadian bro-in-law told me this.

Locker, ask John Gill if I climb.
Jody has always been a name dropper, gill, Croft, etc., but that doesn't make him a climber.

Not all of us. Quite a few appreciate how nice you guys and gals up north are. And yes just because we think you have a good thing going we are still americans and just wish that our fellow amereicans could be a little nicer and smarter. Seems that whenever we express the idea that it would be nice if america could get a bit nicer and smarter the st000pid mean ones amoung us invite us to leave...
