The General Welfare clause empowers the elected Government of the USA to do ANYTHING that improves a citizen's life, liberty and happiness in their judgment as long as it has a RATIONAL BASIS.


Without regard to the context of the rest of the Constitution? Damn, there are these annoying little bits about enumerated powers. so your elected government, as you call it, cannot simply do ANYTHING to improve a citizen's life, "In their judgement as long as it has a rational basis".

While we're tossing about the carefully chosen words of the framers of our Constitution, how do you define liberty? How about the pursuit of..?
