Looks like yesterday's rest day wasn't long enough for some people, or maybe it was too long?

I hate the rest days

I don't know what to do with my self during the regularly scheduled beer time watching the Tour.

But nothing compares to the day after the race is over for disappointment.
You just wish it could go on forever.

My TV won't carry most of the other races

I only get channel 220

the other 2 channels are off limits to me due to my wife's control of our cable
If I ask to put them on our cable subscription, she goes on a long winded Tirade about how we can't get any more channels w/o our costs going out the roof, blah blah blah, and
"I can't stand waiting on the phone to talk to someone that's going to sell us 1000 channels we don't need just so you can get your stupid bike races!!"

another casualty of the Armstrong fallout...we used to get to watch most of the big races on tv.

Thankfully there is the internet.

Having a hidden bike frame motor would allow you to party harder after the stage and make riding the next days stage easier...Ever try riding up steep hills with a hangover...? Quit being so judgemental..

I can understand the motivation for someone near the top (money, fame, etc.) What always amazes me is when age classers do this stuff.

Nobody wants to reprise Marlon Brando, at any age.

There has been some back-and-forth on this thread about why many tour stages are boring, and only the mountain stages are exciting. But this discussion, with one of the most knowledgeable people in the sport, says that, in the current context, the mountain stages have become irrelevant -- just as meaningless to the GC as the sprint stages.

An excellent discussion, and worth your time to read: http://velonews.competitor.com/2016/07/tour-de-france/power-in-numbers-keeps-froome-in-yellow_415621

Jonathan Vaughters (manager of the Cannondale team)tweeted that his best paid guy would only be the 7th best paid guy for SKY.

I heard this funny story about Vaughters when he was an up and coming star prior to US Postal living off of some powdered milk shake formula as he tried to lose weight...Maybe it was Weight Watchers...? that's dedication...

I thought Nibali was untouchable after he bridged up to Alaphillipe and Pantano but NOOOOO, from out of nowhere came Izagirre on the climb of the Joux Plane and then a fearless shredding downhill in the rain for the win. RAD!
