The photo-motos could back off a ways - like a long ways. There's no reason a photographer's motorcycle needs to be within a hundred feet of a racer.

We don't need another tight shot looking into a man's ear canal, or another close-up shot looking up someone's nostril - which if you look at the second pic in Bruce's report, that's the shot the moto-photog was after when he stopped short, causing the pile-up and ruining the race. He wanted the shot looking up Ritchie Port's nostril, holding the camera low and close. He got his shot, at the expense of the race.

The insane close-up shots have been done to death the last few years. Backing away and disabling the zoom would make for better TV.

There are still 8 real stages left, nine total as the final stage no longer influences the general classification.

Froome should not have left his bike and taken off running . . . just wait for your team car and deal with it. He could have been DQ'd for such an inane stunt.

At the end of the 80s;) so many 5.11 road weary climbers got expensive road bikes and got
Serious about miles per week & such, one guy named Pete ?something, made the Olympic
Relay team, but was in a catastrophic Crotch Rocket motorcycle accident eventual losing a leg. . . . . .call those modern cafe bikes ICKM's . . . . IT Can Kill Machine

One of the 1st real scream at the crux as in primal screamers ever, 30 yrs ago
Jonathan Nabutt, did some distance record /time rides as well I think .
Now I'll have to go google the brothers Nabutt, the poor guy who lost his leg ? Not sure?

That picture of Dumoulin makes me wonder if he's not a time trialer, but rather a time traveller -- don't those white tube sox take you back to the good old days of climbing?

when I tell people that I love the Tour, there first response is to tell me that those guys Cheat!

and they say what about the guy that had an electric motor in his bike!

I tell them that I never heard about it, but I can assure them, it's not common practice

I looked it up, and couldn't find anything about someone getting caught in the Tour with an electric motor in their bike.

What's the deal?

A few years ago someone claimed Fabian Cancellera was using one during Paris-Roubaix.

Do they even bring a green jersey to the Alps?

The Canadian Ryder Hesjedal's video shows a wheel spinning w/o the crank moving, so there was no electric crank motor involved in that video
which raises questionssssss?

The videos of Swiss pro Fabian Cancellara are just amazing, he just pulls away like he could be aided w/ a motor, are we sure the video is not enhanced

I don't know what to think, it could be a yes or no

I was talking about with it my wife and she said it was pure crazy talk,
no pro riders have an electric motor in their bike
and she is probably right.
I guess my skepticalness on everything has rubbed off.
I should be very skeptical on this issue until Klimmer chimes in with some advanced alien technology that actually works and weighs less than a hidden battery power electric motor

I want to see bike weights before and after..
conspiracy? not sure.

they have been riding along the riders with thermal imaging cameras to detect any unusual heat coming from the seatpost/crank area.

Apparently there is a way of using electromagnets to help the wheels.

Thanks for the links
we all need to look into this more and find out as much as we can

But It doesn't matter for this Tour

It's Pure Professional Sports at it's Best

if they get caught, throw em out and let the race go on

one thing that needs to be noted
No protests or terrorists have disrupted the race so far

and my prediction is that none will occur

It's been a Great Tour this Year!

Do they even bring a green jersey to the Alps?

Yes, all the jerseys ride through the Alps . . . some just have a more difficult time.

Sagan is not your garden variety sprinter, he is the most versatile rider in professional cycling . . . a non-cycling enthusiast cannot comprehend the intelligence, strength and talent it takes to achieve such a lofty position.
