I was wondering how the Secret Service would deal with the massive walls and gullys that are hard to secure..

It's time. Remove all private vehicles from valley central.
Man i hope I live to see that. Hated the concept when they started in Zion, but now I wish it were a year round thing. Looks like Arches will be next, but I'd think they'll have to do something like this in the ditch eventually.
Enjoy Mr President! If you're wondering, Bears Ears would be a fantastic Birthday/Father's day gift for this desert rat.

It looks like Five Open Books and Yosemite Falls Area will be included in the closure as well. I just came down from Commitment and they were posting signs.

Park employees have been advised to keep quiet.
The good news is that there is now a temporary Verizon 4G LTE tower in Half Dome Village. Yosemite is really connected at the moment. You cant climb, but you sure can stream video...

What a crock. I assume the "Majestic" is closed as well so he and his entourage will be safe and well kept at taxpayer expense? Bad news for bear 46.
I cannot believe my eyes. Did you just make an assumption and then get mad and make accusations based on your very own wild imagination?
I just called the hotel to confirm. It's not closed to guests who are staying or arriving. Yesterday, I rode around the loop on my bike in the afternoon. Was surprised how light the traffic was and how business as usual it was, esp when I was later told that President Obama was already in the park!
Today, I watched from El Cap for a few hours and did not detect anything unusual for a Saturday. And my drive out of the park around 3pm was all smooth sailing.
I was told that when he gave a speech under Yosemite Falls this morning, the traffic in the vicinity was indeed demobilized temporarily. But come on, this is the much respected (source) president of your beautiful, prosperous, and welcoming nation we are talking about. The necessary security and safety is very much common sense, and a little inconvenience is nothing but expected. What's to cry about?

If I had known he was going to give public speech today I would have stayed last night!
I'm with Mei! Great that he is visiting the park.

I love the way Americans take orders, thus showing they are not worthy to lead the world, civilizationally speaking, as they effectively do. This sort of self-humiliation would NEVER work in France. Instead little American sheep take unconstitutional orders with alacrity, pride and total obedience. They should be ashamed of themselves, instead, and the rest of the world should be afraid. Very afraid. Indeed, who is this Obama? An employee of We The People! Wake up, People, instead of just goose stepping proudly in the sunset of the dignity of the human spirit. The meaning and appeal of real climbing is freedom. Taking orders, the exact opposite.

Yes it was an assumption. Was he staying in the park or getting choppered out every evening?
How light traffic was? Go figure that one.

The meaning and appeal of real climbing is freedom. Taking orders, the exact opposite. This HAS to be a troll. I mean really, France? The country that invented the white flag of rolling over and taking it. Btw, there is nothing unconstitutional about the park service determining what we can do inside the park. It is well within their authority.

What difference does it make if neither would please you anyway?
How light traffic was? Go figure that one.
Were/Are you in the Valley? I don't need to figure it out; I was there. It was light when I rode and drove around (early mornings and then afternoons). That said, I'm pretty sure there were times and spots that traffic was heavy. A couple of weekends ago, it took someone I know TWO HOURS to get around the loop. Sure, blame it on Obama.

Cheers Mei. No, I am not a troll. Laughable? Depends who you ask.
To clarify, no I was not in the valley, so am just sup-positioning based on what What I've seen here in SoCal. Every time he comes to SoCal for fund raising it is a huge inconvenience for commuters. Many just take the day off rather than deal with the additional congestion.
I hate all politicians equally. Hell, I'd rather see another 4 years of Obama than Hillary or Trump (not likely).
I don't hold Obama in a state of reverence. He is just another guy trying to do his job while sucking at the taxpayers teat.
