Good seeing you this weekend Barack ( still sounds like a Star Trek Name to me). Thanks for rope gunning those pitches on free rider, and as always, the monster offwidth is on me!

Glad you got the girls up the casual free solo of Steck Salathe on your hike down from glacier point. I told you they are Senders! And wasn't it a good idea I had you give those secret service guys beta on spotting?

But enough of this training wheels sh#t, meet you in vedauwoo next month and the white rim in the fall, for some Real Climbing!
Cheers,
Jaybro.
And mutual condolences, on the Warriors loss....

On behalf of Cleveland National Forest (I can't speak for the Cleveland Cavialiers) and myself, I salute the POTUS as an All-American Basketball Fan and former playah from Illinois, as well as Senator for that fine state.

The Ohio Players were more entertaining, however.

The President clearly could use a vacation with some peace and quiet. Sadly as President, he'll never be able to get away from it and just have a normal vacation like we can. And he'll probably fire the guy who suggested the trip once he bumps up against the 60,000+++ tourists and the zoo that the valley usually is in early summer. :-) Hope he's not harassed by every Tom Dick and Harry and that he'll enjoy the majesty that awes even the most jaded of us. It's a great place, even with the many idiot visitors (aka, all of us and more) who often seem to outnumber the flies by about 3 to 1 margin.

During his Father’s Day trip to Yosemite National Park, the President took time out of his schedule to make remarks on America’s national park system.

Instead of just discussing the magnificence of the park and the need to maintain federal national park regulations, as is typically done, the President brought up the important topic of climate change and its impact on America’s natural beauty.

He referenced the drying out of Yosemite’s meadows, the vanishing glaciers, changes in bird migratory patterns, the displacement of mammals endemic to the park, and more expensive and dangerous wildfire seasons.

The gist of the President’s message is that climate change is steadily transforming America’s natural treasures for the worst.

Climate change is often portrayed in the media as a partisan issue where its existence depends on whether or not someone believes in it or not.

When a politician comes on TV and says manmade climate change is a hoax, he or she is rarely challenged.

The unfortunate impact this has on the American psyche is the belief that climate change isn’t a legitimate danger and is something that warrants negligible amounts of concern.

Research suggests this to be true as only 41% of Americans view climate change to be an immediate cause for concern, compared to 51% of people globally.

It also doesn’t help that there is substantial moneyed interest in preventing climate action.

Almost as bad as climate change being portrayed as an issue where there is no established truth is not discussing it at all.

Typically, the only time climate change issues are raised in the media is when there is some type of controversy over climate policy or during an international climate conference, such as the one in Paris last December.

What the President’s speech highlights is that climate change doesn’t take a break just because we aren’t talking about it.

The dearth of coverage between the Paris Conference of Parties and today has not been followed by an equally scarce amount of harmful climatic events.

There is currently a heat wave in the Southwest, wildfires in several states, a continuation of the several year-long California drought, and projections indicate that 2016 will continue 2015 and 2014’s legacies of being the hottest year on record. Clearly, there is ample cause to keep the conversation going.

President Obama could have easily taken the easy route and stopped talking about climate change.

I’m sure it would be a great way for him to shield himself from criticism and controversy.

Instead, he has shown incredible leadership by making climate action a defining part of his Presidential legacy.

In many respects, he is the first American president to do this.

All of us, including the next President, should follow President Obama’s example and continue to discuss this very important issue.

We have a responsibility to our planet and each other to cast our votes for candidates, at all levels, who acknowledge the need for meaningful climate policy.

Choosing to keep silent will only mean that the damage climate change has already impacted on national parks like Yosemite will continue, unabated.

Thank you Mr. President for not keeping silent.

From me, "Ditto, Mr. POTUS."

Well 'Climate Change' did indeed shape Yosemite Valley. It took a while, and Mother nature did it all herself, without many people around.

Climate change. Zzzzz....

If you really think he gives 2 shits about Yosemite OR climate change as it affects humans, you're deluding yourself. This is about climate change politics and ways for him to spend more money frivolously.

Everything Obama does is political. But he entitled to crash the park anytime he wants. He's entitled to that as an American.

Show me a picture from 1413 and the glacier will be even bigger.
And you know this because...? While we know your point of view if from 1413, we knnow you weren't there at the time. Looks like someone has drank the 'global warming is a fraud' kool-aid though.

I hope that anyone who has evidence debunking human-caused climate change seeks publication of such evidence in a rigorous, peer reviewed, scientific journal.
