Trump leading by 15pts in NH, Cruz up by the same or more in Iowa. Rubio getting his ass kicked in both states, and not looking much better in the south either.

I think the inmates (base) have taken over the asylum, might go all the way to the convention. Rubio is the establishment's choice now that Bush tanked it. But Rubio will not beat whichever of Cruz and Trump are left standing. Those two are drawing from the same set of voters, and that's totalling around 60% of the GOP vote, when one of them drops out, expect the other to get a big boost. Marco "The Waterboy" Rubio is toast (not that he ever had a chance anyway, guy was always in the race to try to get a VP or Cabinet slot)

this game of establishment brinkmanship is starting to get interesting.

at this point there are only six weeks left until the start of the primaries and twelve weeks until they are essentially half done.

and right now fox news has the national polls at:

trump - 39%
cruz - 18%
rubio - 11%
carson - 9%
bush, christie, fiorina + paul - 3% each

while, imo, the smart money should, this far out, still be on the establishment guy [ie. rubio]... and i wouldn't completely rule out bush just yet... it's starting to get to the point where bush is going to need a couple of hail marys and rubio needs a solid fourth quarter...

there's a reason the establishment is wringing their hands and during this election cycle the big republican funders [after their experience with rove, fox news and romney in the last election cycle] have started to put their money into independent super pacs rather than the individual candidate aligned ones of years past...

and it's not because the establishment or the big funders have a lock on this just yet.

all round an entertaining situation for the non-republicans and what has to be downright pepto bismol consumption inducing if you're an establishment republican...

I continue to find it ironic that otherwise seemingly intelligent people, like those found on this site, still think there is even a modicum of difference between Republicans and Democrats.

If you haven't reached the conclusion that both of these parties are focused on expanding government control, reducing individual liberty and escalating foreign entanglements, then I would argue that you need your head shrunk.

Arguing Republican and Democrat is like trying to decide if you want to die by hanging or the electric chair.

What Locker spewed:

The last thing this country needs is another one of those c*#k sucking Bush MoFo's...

Yep, I'm with ya on this one. I truly hate ALL the options, both sides, on this one. What a messed up system when this is the "best" we can get. Every time I hear/read something about ISIS, I get freakin' angry at that DB GWB for invading that crappy sand country. Hussain was horrendous, but who can argue that what has followed him is better?

I may skip voting for prez this year. Local stuff matters more, anyway. Maybe we in Cali can vote for another bullet train?! Yeah!

I've maintained it will be Rubio for several months.

Yet he has simply not caught on with the base. His polling is stuck at around 10%. He's likeable enough, but not loved.

So, I have no idea. It will be either trump, Cruz or rubio, all with an equally likely chance.

No one seems interested in Jeb.

The Bern is ahead of where BHO was in the fund raising at this stage when he went on to trounce Hildebeest.

There's a full on revolt in both parties against the oligarchists.

If Hildiebeest has bought all of the delegates and the Bern wins the popular vote the Dem convention could be a riot. (literally)

All of the insurgent Repubs are in double digits and none of the "establishment" candidates can break out of single digits.

Agree with the comments that Rubio is a young, goofy looking, inexperienced, unqualified lightweight. His most distinguishing characteristic as a candidate is that he's not a WASP. He can give a decent speech.

If recent history is any guide, it means he should have an excellent shot at being elected president.

I know you guys have heard it ad naseum, but it's true-most of the country is fed up with the standard issue party establishment. We certainly aren't ready to endorse a dynasty either D or R. So where does that leave us? Trump at the moment. Maybe Cruz after Iowa. In november, those independent voters not to repulsed will hold their nose and vote for the least of evils, whoever that then is perceived to be.

People were excited about an Obama candidacy, at this stage. Are folks excited about Rubio?

Rubio's looks have been touted as advantage. I don't agree. He looks boyish and that look lacks experience.

Cruz looks like a kid also.

There's a full on revolt in both parties against the oligarchists.

Um, no. Hillary leads by 40pts. Establishment choice. T-Rump, otoh, leads by about 20pts, non-establishment choice. Not even remotely comparable. But then again, when you get your "insight" via cartoons...DERP.

Good looks are the key. After all I have fond memories of Presidents Gary Hart and Jack Kemp.

This one is a crackup: "Jindal is a successful governor". Lest I remind you, the guy started with an $865 million surplus and ended with a $1.6 billion budget deficit. Approval rating among his constituents is <20% with even GOP constituents having a 55% disapproval rate. The guy is polling lower in approval than GWB ever did, now that's BAD.

"There's a full on revolt in both parties against the oligarchists."

TGT is just excited to see Bernie erode Hillary's support, in the same way I'm excited to see Trump erode the support of any other GOP candidate. He's hoping it will result in splitting the vote, or at least disenfranchising enough of the Democratic voters to get them to stay home on election day....giving more an edge to whatever jerkwad the GOP puts forth.
