We could see the glow of flames from my house in Harlan Ranch (far northeast Clovis) last night. Frightening to watch.

From rincon's posted link--
Some members of the North Fork community were not happy that vendors have set up booths in town selling “Willow Fire” T-shirts.
One woman shopping at the North Fork Market Wednesday afternoon, who wished to remain anonymous, said she did not like the idea of people making money over what could be a major tragedy for the community.
I saw a T-shirt commemorating the Rim fire but cannot find the picture that I took of the guy's shirt. It was a hot-selling item, he said, due to the fact that is was such a monstrous calamity but the damage to infrastructure was so relatively slight it was a miracle. People liked that.
But vendors in a booth at this stage? I'd be outraged myself, were I living in eastern Madera County, no matter the message on the shirt.
I'm talking CRASS to the MAX!

Been a stressful few days but I'm happy to report they have just about put it out. I was sick to my stomach when they did their final back fire this morning, but it worked good. If it would have jumped the line Cascadel would have been screwed. So thankful to those firefighters.
Hurried back to basecamp and though the fire was still raging, the back burn was showing success.
Thanks to all who sent us well wishes and offered help. I'm humbled.

Yea Justin!
Word has it, that just after 9 pm last night, back-burning operations had already began on the southern end of the fire, when winds started to blow. Gusts were reported to be as high as 40 miles per hour in the Willow Creek drainage, lasting until about 11 pm. Sparks and embers were flying! But, the firefighters apparently held their line!

Hey Mouse,
From your post in the hostel yard you could have watched the fire burn for days. Sad. I pulled out to Truckee yesterday for cleaner skies(and work).
Pray for Rain!
