Scary stuff, Justin. Best thoughts and prayers go out to you, Jeremy, and all my other North Fork and Bass Lake friends (I'd add Central Camp, even though I don't think I know anyone who lives there).

Copy that. What a sinking feeling - sure hope this gets under control fast but fear it'll be a while.

Good luck Justin! If you get evacuated you can come here. We have lots of room and you'd be more than welcome...or just stop by for a beer anytime!

Big thanks to everyone for the thoughts.
I'm sure we will be fine, we have friends in Oakhurst that got evacuated three times last year and had a house to come home to each time. Guess each time they packed less and less, haha.

Thanks Rob for the housing option and the beers. We should get together for dinner and brews at Southgate soon.I'll save your number, that is 559 area code?

Here's a couple IR images from http://ftp.nifc.gov/incident_specific_data/calif_s/2015_Incidents/
Great site for info on about any fire.

I've been involved in a number of chainsaw training classes just to the west of this location. It's used by the Forest Service, because of the large number of dead trees upon which to cut. A lot of dry brush, as well.

I'd be scared to death of a fire in this terrain, there is so much fuel.

I think the weather is going to have a big impact on what happens in the next few days. I suppose the good news is that there is a lot of road access in the area, the lake is there to dip into, and there are a number of pre-existing firebreaks.

Best wishes for good outcomes for residents!

Things may be turning for the worse over there today. I hope they will be able to keep it under control, with the winds permitting.

UPDATE from Sarah Rah - NF Informal Emergency Group (559-706-9310)

This afternoon Incident Command is issuing pre-evacuation orders to Cascadel and surrounding neighborhoods. Help spread the word. Full evacuation could be called this afternoon or evening, so people have to get prepared.

From SE corner of south perimeter, fire ran half-mile overnight on the east side of the ridge. Crews cannot control it, and some crews have been removed from area due to dangerous conditions. Risk to Cascadel is considered serious.

American Red Cross has links to Animal Rescue options c/o CENTRAL CALIFORNIA ANIMAL DISASTER TEAMwww.CCADT.org.

Yeah Barry, they have told us we will be evacuated this evening. Everything is packed and just watching the airshow from my porch. Hoping the Gods show mercy, but got the most important things with me and so grateful for good friends.
