4 full bony impactions here.

Twilight sleep (demerol/valium)+ some 'caine.

If they have to cut them out of the bone it's a bigger deal but still not rocket science. I felt no pain until after. I do remember coming to at one point and the guy had his knee on my chest for leverage with a whole assortment of large metal objects in my mouth crunching away and a wee bit of blood spattered on his scrubs.

If the crowns are exposed/out of the bone it's much simpler with far less trauma and healing time.

Climbski2,

Total nightmare. I had a buddy of mine who was a budding young oral surgery resident take mine out while I was a dental student. He oversedated me with versed after I "allegedly" became combative while going under. I hurt terribly for six days and got dry socket afterwards because he was a total baffoon of a surgeon and ended up not making it through the residency. The swelling was immense and I remember taking a biochem test in a Vicodin induced haze three days post op. I whined a lot that first week according to my wife, but I'm kind of a pansy.

I had all four pulled at once. Worst part was the stupid video I had to watch about possible complications, whereupon I had a mild panic attack and nearly didn't go through with it.
Both left and right lowers were facing forward instead of vertical. Lower right got a dry socket, which they fixed me up for later. But the actual surgery? Cake. Knocked the f*#k out. Only way to go.

Just getting lower molars filled was worse by far and hurt far longer.

As painful experiences in life go, wisdom teeth extraction was mellow for me. I went under and had all four taken out. I awoke to the nurses laughing at what I was saying while out. They wouldn't tell me what I said. A month later I had a couple of dreams where the oral surgeon had his foot up on the chair trying very hard to pull out my teeth. Other than that and some normal healing discomfort, it was a breeze. I have had several regular teeth pulled using a local and that is more of an ordeal in my experience.

Sack up! Ain't no big deal. Seriously. See my earlier post. Not to say it is a pleasant time but I've been torn up worse during a week end in Joshua Tree.

edit: 4 at once for me. Relatively painless. Just wierd listening to the noise and toungeing the holes until they heal.

Post a TR and ask the dentist to use a gopro. On second thought, please don't.

I had my wisdom teeth pulled in my late 40' and early 50's though not all at once. Didn't know mirconut then, but another surgeon in Fresno. I went under and woke up with minimal pain. I took no meds afterwards and had no pain. I remember being quite amazed at the lack of pain. Just kept the socket clean and had no problems.

What's the big deal. Get the gas and take a nice nap. I remember having a nice dream with my dad and the dentist's nurse dancing along a giant row of teeth singing a song about teeth. No sh#t. Thirty years later, still very vivid. You count to ten while inhaling gas and wake up with a bunch of gauze stuffed in your mouth. What could be easier?
