Michelle, is that a real question?
Do you mean that ignorance is as valuable as wisdom? Racism as valuable as tolerance? Violence as valuable as peace? By your logic, hating racism and racism are equal. That's just dense.

Only in America do we worship ignorance and praise idiocy. If you don't understand what is wrong with arming teachers or racism then what value is your question?

Sierra: wtf is wrong with Quebexico?!

Like the god damn French child molestors, all I ever get from the Quebexican bastards is "Je ne vous comprend pas."

I'm curious, and quite serious. How is being prejudiced against someone for their beliefs any different than being racist?

how? in fact the two could not be more different

racism is a bigotry that is groups all members of a particular race together as in "niggers"

being prejudiced against someone for their beliefs is just that, one person who you dislike
because you don't like or agree with what they think or believe

After 137 posts on the subject by ST pundits, it seems late, but logical, to post the Merriam-Webster dictionary definition of racism.

1
: a belief that race is the primary determinant of human traits and capacities and that racial differences produce an inherent superiority of a particular race
2
: racial prejudice or discrimination

http://www.merriam-webster.com/dictionary/racism

How about the Oxford American English definition too.

racism
Syllabification: racˇism
Pronunciation: /ˈrāˌsizəm 

noun

1. The belief that all members of each race possess characteristics or abilities specific to that race, especially so as to distinguish it as inferior or superior to another race or races
http://www.oxforddictionaries.com/us/definition/american_english/racism

Of course logical discourse is not a normal discussion method for several folks on this thread.

racial prejudice

What if discrimination of postjudicial?

I mean, what if I hate someone after I've met them?
Why do people still call it racism and prejudice?

Unless SLR means that he met "them" and can therefore be prejudiced against 'them all'.
As in, I met a white bigot therefore all whites are bigots. That's poor reasoning based on bad assumptions.

My point is this. Hate is hate. Calling someone a right wing gun toting nut is equally prejudicial as calling someone some racial slur. Lumping people into categories is mental laziness. I'm more interested in talking to people without having to resort to name calling. If discourse is dense, then I guess I'm dense. I'm not sure how I turned into a person that supports arming teachers. Enlighten me.

Michelle,
C'mon! "Hate is hate". That's a silly platitude.
Slave and the Master hate eachother. Is that the same hate?
Being a right-wing gun-nut is a choice. Skin color isn't. Try to understand the difference.

I am sure many that lurk also could but for a myriad of reason choose to just sit quietly on the sidelines..

Your a smart guy Bruce but at least one little piece of you has to be broken to play in the sandbox with the rest of us intellectual and moral invalids...

I'm new to this particular slug fest and I'm not gonna read the previous 100+ posts
But I will have a go at bluey's starter:
Before knee-jerking into our own brief history, consider also the history of Asian racism. It was more ethnic than racist, but kinda the same thing. Bigotry.
That can be taken two ways.
Is that Whitey's racism against Asians or Asians' against others?
I presume it's Whitey's burden.

was more ethnic than racist
OK, so what is ethnic?
How many Asians are Muslim?
Since Asian is being called an ethnicity I'll take it liberally.
Take a look at this map of Asia
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Asian_Dust
I'd guess that about 40% of Asians are Muslims.
You recently said (on another thread) "Muslims are on my radar"
So something like 40% of Asians are on your radar?
How can you tell which of the Asians are the suspicious Muslims?
Oh yeah, at least it's easy to spoke the Muslim women who wear the veil. And their male companions are therefore also on your radar.
I'm not even going near your conflation of ethnicity with race.

I like the points being brought up. I personally agree with you Bruce but I do stand by my comment. Hate IS hate, regardless the cause. Is it worse to hate the right wing nut because he makes a choice? Sure, it's perhaps ignorance on their part. How does anyone expect to converse about these topics or effect change when the sh.it is being slung?
