When does this end? If ever.

Before knee-jerking into our own brief history, consider also the history of Asian racism. It was more ethnic than racist, but kinda the same thing. Bigotry.

It will never go away. Not in our lifetimes.

Is it really that big of a deal right now?

I hate the Asians...meh, best people I ever met. And they have their opinions on race too!

Welcome to the white privilege thread. Everyone please share how racism has little or no effect on you personally and how we should just stop talking about it already. Bonus points if you can mention your non-white friend while you do it. Be warned! This is a honeypot thread wherein bluering and his friends will eventually find themselves rooting for someone who is copy/pasting posts from Stormfront.com but then go on pretending their own bigotry is a figment of other people's imagination. Yes this has already happened.

That was a pee-stop that I posted above....FWIW....

Cool thing about suicide-doors, open them both up and a gal can privately squat between them and have her privacy. My wife loves my truck for that. And so do my Asian climber gal-pals.

I don't no what this has to do with racism though, I'll digress.

You are exactly why I started this thread...you and people like yourself.

You know how everybody else feels about others. YOU are the authorities on race-relations. But you only look at it through a blinder of "white privaledge". That's all you care to consider.

Nothing else to see.

No truer whitesplaining has ever been done. Preach on, brother.

This thread is stupid.

Just wait for my 'Misogyny' thread where I claim it is okay to call chix sluts sometimes, even whores. I'm working up to it.

The 'Man-whore' thread is taking some time though.

Some people saw the problem a while ago;

"There is a class of colored people who make a business of keeping the troubles, the wrongs, and the hardships of the Negro race before the public. Some of these people do not want the Negro to lose his grievances, because they do not want to lose their jobs. There is a certain class of race-problem solvers who don't want the patient to get well."

You will know it's come full circle when a black man gets banned for life for calling a white guy a racist

Who among you as ever told a Pollock Joke?
Not one of those innocuous ones like Pollock's don't make ice cubes because they forgot the recipe or broke their racking leaves by falling out of the tree kind but one of those really mean spirited hateful kind? I grew up as a kid of Polish descent at a time their wasn't much pride in being Polish. Had to endure a constant assault of prejudiced jokes. No biggie though not compared to raising three kids with a woman of Palestinian Arab descent. NOt many people in America have a very positive view of Palestinians. Lots of prejudice and racism there.
The mass proletariat of America hates who their puppet masters tell them to.

I haven't heard enough about how talking about race is a waste of time since it won't be "solved in our lifetime." OP is kinda light.

Who among you as ever told a Pollock Joke?

As a young grade schooler, I heard the kids telling Pollock jokes. I not knowing what a Pollock was, decided it must be an animal of some kind. I went home and told my parents about these funny jokes about Pollocks and was educated as to what a Pollock is. My folks didn't tell jokes like that and have always had an open door to people regardless of race.

Bigotry seems an equal opportunity condition.

I think what we all understand now is that, irrefutably, you judge people on character or personality. We do obviously look at people and make assumptions, and judge people. If you disagree, you're a liar.

Everybody does this, and if you don't judge people on appearance you're a fool probably. The key, in most cases, is to withhold judgement until you're engaged with this person.

Since I dislike most people, I usually head for the bar, "I need another drink", and lose them.

I think racism is confused with just bad people.

You have it exactly opposite. We've won the cultural fight on if racism is ok or not. Basically everyone agrees it isn't and that racists are bad people. That creates a situation where when someone gets called out for racist behavior or statements they think "well that can't be true because racists are bad people and I'm a good person ergo what I said can't be racist." Then they start new threads to talk about how talking about race is futile since it will never be fixed to further justify their deep, deep denial. Good people can be racist or participate in perpetuating racist culture. Our country was founded by them. They are also capable of admitting to their own missteps and improving upon them.

You Americans 'solved' slavery with a gun, among other things like British rule. It didn't solve racism.

My family feels more at home in Canada as far as racism goes. Could be because of the way we solve problems. Also because we have fewer big cities with dense abrasive populations.

I like those pollock jokes, reminds me of growing up with people who could make fun of themselves and we enjoyed our differences together. When I moved to LA it was painful to be in a society that had so many racial tensions - but you guys won't ever get over it because of the ideas on this thread - - the people who aren't all white dis the guys they think are - essentially not letting someone be themselves because of the colour of their skin. Society sucks with that behavior exhibited, but it is socially acceptable in the US so it's not going away anytime soon.

EDIT : JUst for fun, quotes from other threads on the front page to prove my point...

Those fatboi crackers are going to get a hard civics lesson courtesy of the US Constitution.

Well, I don't want to post any more, but generally it doesn't give you a warm feeling to be a human being on the Taco or in America with what is generally accepted speech. If just you guys on the Taco could speak with respect so could the rest of the country. But for some reason, it's not your way. The guy quoted above won't because of the constitution, and i'm sure everyone else has an equally noble reason to behave in this manner.
