You have that right to not stop if you feel the vehicle does not meet the basic red/blue, Ca exempt or govt. plates identifying marks in a remote area.

Everything Werner said is good information.
I talked about this with my husband last night and he said he would check for me the details about the legality of not stopping.

But what he remembers is that, man or woman, marked vehicle or not, you cannot be charged with attempted flight for not stopping in an isolated area. If you have any fear at all that something is not legit, Put your flashers on and continue, at the speed limit or below, to a populated area...
While you are doing this take out your phone and dial 911 and report the situation. They will verify whether or not you should stop.

Yes. All the Crossfit in the world isn't going to be of much help to most women who are being attacked to by 6'2'', 225 lb. hardened criminal.
Essentially this point was made in another ST thread a few years ago--some women's self defense class brought in a pretty large guy to use to test out their techniques and had him go rough as he could without really hurting anyone--turns out he just bull rushed them and they found their techniques had little practical value against a large guy who is really being aggressive and not playing a scripted play-fight role.

If you're serious about self-defense, seems like your realistic options are a gun and/or structuring your life to make sure a large criminal can never get his hands on you.
It's "cute" to think that some Crossfit is going to allow the intended victim to turn the tables against the attacker, but it's not realistic.

Some nut job was tailgating me down Echo Summit. There was a line of traffic all the way into town, so it wasn't like I was going unreasonably slow. I tapped my breaks a bit and the as#@&%e flipped on his brights and got even closer. It escalated and he ended up following me into my neighborhood. I took a few more turns to see if I could lose him, but he persisted. So I turned on my interior light, got in my glove box, and grabbed my PHONE. The guy slammed on his breaks and took off.

Guns... pffft. What a bunch of idiots! Yeah, if you think you are getting pulled over by a cop, be sure to have your gun in hand just in case they turn out not to be a real cop. Do you people think, at all, ever?

Regarding not pulling over in unpopulated areas.

You can certainly be charged and arrested by the officer. It probably won't stick if you fight it but.. them LEOs can certainly take you in and make life miserable till bailed. Still risking it can be better than pulling over if you feel any reason to be suspicious.

The 911 call is a good idea and being incredibly polite with a possibly irate officer will help.

Ron is so wise. That girl should have known better... or at least been carrying a gun. Everyone should carry a gun and expect the worst with every encounter, especially if they don't know how to properly ID a real officer.

I know thinking of one thing is hard enough for some of you so that thinking of two things may be impossible, but . . .
just because you have a gun doesn't mean you can't have a phone too, and use it;
just because you have a gun doesn't mean you can't drive away.

But when Officer Friendly turns out to be Mr. Goodbar, having a gun may have some utility, depending on the circumstances.
If you want to be raped and tortured by some psycho, fine, whatever floats yer boat, but some of us would rather have something a little stronger than Crossfit to deal with a bad situation, and all the more so for women.

And I haven't heard too many CCP holders getting gunned down by cops during traffic stops, but who knows, maybe Fox is suppressing it or something.

I'm pretty sure CCP class teaches student pistol packers to let the cop pulling you over know you're armed immediately upon contact.

"I have a gun, and a permit to carry it" would be good news to a real cop - and a warning to go bother someone else to a fake cop.

The important thing to remember is that everyone should carry a gun, always. Guns make the world a safer place, always. If you can think through a simplified scenario from behind a keyboard, real life situations will certainly pan out the same way.

You should always have your gun ready for a shoot out when you are getting pulled over, just in case it isn't a real cop. When you are approached by the potential LEO you should tell them you are packing heat because a real cop will respect you for it and a fake cop will run. There is no way the real cop will perceive any danger because they KNOW guns make the world a safer place, always. And there is no way a fake cop will be able to over power you and take your gun once you take away the element of surprise.
