Anyone have any beta on the TM campsite opening date? Do you think they'll be open July 1?

I've heard from a ranger that the TM campground usually opens about 2-3 weeks after they get the water turned on, and that hasn't happened yet.

edit - just spoke with a ranger on the hotline - she said water is not on yet, and opening date is not set, but also said 'I'd hope they'd have it open for July 1'

So - see you up there campers!

Yes - average rain fall this year has been a wonderful gift after 5 years of below average - great to see the water flow and the foliage so green. Stoked to be in the high country soon.

Darkside Dome for the win! What a gem.

Way to get after it Cragman! I've always packed my gear out to Cathedral, but would love to go light someday

Kinda tempted to edit the question marks out of my response. ;)

Tried to get up there last October, but a late start and a wrong turn denied us. But a beautiful approach, worthwhile as a hike in it's own right, imo (and fortunately also in the "o" of the people I drug through the woods).

RUMOR has it that the water will come on today or Saturday barring any unforeseen circumstances. The store and po are open 9 to 5. grill and lodge open mid next week if water comes on. Remember that the sport shop and gas station are closed forever.

rumor say campground opening next Friday 6/17

already lots of pct/jmt hikers, supposed to be more than last year if you can beleive that.

it was NOT a normal snow/water year. survey says that april and may were 70% of normal? sure there is some snow and water but compared to normal years this is nothing and it is going fast

From here it looks very gloomy up in the mtns. Nothing but gray overcast from here south as I look out my window.

That's a beauty of a shot of shadows on rock, looks easy from here.

I drove to Bishop this weekend for a little bouldering and was shocked to see that Tioga was open. I thought after a certain date they kept it closed as a standard procedure. Must be nice driving through there with no one around.

Fat Dad, think they close it for more than light snow they can't clear easily and for rock slides.

On a scale of 1-10 I miss Tioga 10. If you have not spent time there, get to know it, spend multiple summers throwing yourself into its beauty.

The Valley may be Marilyn Monroe, Tioga and Tuolumne.....Audrey Hepburn.
