I came to this forum right around the same time Anders did. It was right around the time of Daryl's Memorial on top of the Chief. I made a connection with Anders and a bunch of other Canadians that post here and since that time I have become friends with several of these good people. What really gets me is why these two (expletive deleted)'s would discolor these calm waters. The civility shown amongst our northern neighbors is a model we could all do well to emulate.

It is stuff like this that makes me realize we really have a long way to go in this country to come to a consensus of meaningful change.

I also get the feeling that Anders has started some kind of social experiment with "we the Taco" as subjects. I am laughing already.

I'll keep it to the political threads if others do as well.

Thank you. That is much appreciated. I don't have any problem with what goes on in those threads. I've even posted in them myself. But what is welcome in the political threads can really ruin things in other threads.

Anders was lurking on FB last night, and I couldn't resist teasing him a bit about how his absence here set off its own thread. If Helen of Troy had the face that launched a thousand ships, does Anders have a certain gravitas whose absence that will launch a thousand posts?

Remember the words of Captain Granitic? ( on soloing ):

"In abscence of protection, you must be your own"

The vacumn left by the lack of a monitor should be filled by two things climbers are supposed to possess in copious quantities: Good Judgement and Self Control.

But Chaz, we all know that good judgment comes from experience, and experience comes from . . .

poor judgment.

No no no...I think I've unraveled the mystery!

He's made off with Ed's so-called "lurid" pink rope and is too busy climbing to care about the rest of us he's left in the dust...

Not only that, he has found some sunshine. Quite an accomplishment for a Vancouverite in February. Mysterious.

I yacked with him on FB today. Maybe he discovered that a lot of this forum is a waste of time if taken too far.

I should work on my ST addiction.

Most people on ST catch shyte for posting. Anders is catching shyte for not posting.

Clearly, people on ST are prepared to accept any justification for their preferred mode.
