Glad you like it, Murcy! I love that body material....made two more bags from it, Little Dipper Size. The trim is less burly, a nice chocolate ultrasuedede... They are unfinished but if someone wants one I can do it up. Just oder any of the $25 plus shipping bags, but put in the Note to Seller that you want a Sunset Stripe bag.
Norwegian - I am happy to know your kids are liking that chalkbag!

With a small generator in your van and WIFI you have a shop on wheels. Cool.

Cosmic - I hope it isn't those mink pelts! hahaha
Definitely want to climb I have been derelict in that this last few months.
As for a shop on wheels, I make a bunch of bags when I do have the eletricity, and then finish them by hand in the non-electric places. There is no way I would want to stow a generator, fabric cache and sewing machine in the van. It's enough with a duffle bag full of hair accessories and another with chalkbags, both finished and flat!
But having mobile broadband definitely does help, even though it is getting easier and easier to pick up wifi.

I'm glad, then, that I didn't try to make that bag when you asked. I would have felt terrible and like it was something I did wrong.

Bump for "Grrr...crap!" Took the van to mechanics for the leaking brake fluid and the issue is some mechanism which attaches to the master cylinder. Brake optimizing or distribution or something or other.
Which isn't all that bad, but I noticed one of my tires was low yesterday and refilled it. This morning I could see it was already low again, so had them take a look.
Apparently something punctured the tire and has made the belts separate, and the tire is ruined. The good news is they have a set of used tires on hand which can go, but I wasn't anticipating that. Grrrrr
Chalkbags! Who wants a chalkbag? I got (sung to Armour hotdog song) hot bags, cool bags, bags with stripes and spots!

Okay - I am headed to the sewing room in a few minutes. I will crank out a few Big Dippers(there is only one left on the website).
Won't be able to hand-finish them as the clock is ticking for lift off and I still have much to do, but I will take pictures of all the new ones flat. Will post those later today.

Ya! I am so happy when people say how well the chalkbags work! It is due to using the elastic cording...why commercial makers don't do it, I can't imagine. The cord costs 3 times as plain but the benefit outweighs that factor, I think.
Having trouble with the photo uploader regarding the new bags...grrr. Please be patient as we are experiencing technical difficulties! Will not get this done today. Tomorrow I head out and probably will get them up when I stop for the evening.

Okay - going through PhotoBucket...
The first two are a really great durable woven plaid type fabric, a midweight upholstery material. I think there is some flax or hemp in the fiber content, ans the material has a slightly stiff hand, and matte finish.
Overall, the color seems a golden brown, but it is actually comprised of various threads in redsm greens, bone, brown and black. The trim is chocolate brown ultrasuede.
I call this design "Indiana." I have one Big Dipper, if Joey would like it, and 2 Little Dippers.
The second styles are called "Redrum." It is also midweight upholstery fabric, in a cool woven pattern that give the illusion of a stripe pattern. Light gold, darker gold, and deep red threads create this pattern. The trim is dark red ultrasuede.
I have one "sort of " Big Dipper, and two Little Dippers. It is the same height as listed on website size, but the opening is a little bit smaller. The material swatch just wasn't wide enough to get the full width. I think it is still fine for a big-handed person, as even our Little Dipper is larger in size/opening than most commercially available chalkbags.
I do have some other flat bags which I haven't taken pictures of yet. Most likely that will be a few days, since I will be traveling. But if you look at the picture of the bag that Murcy posted on the page before this one, that is the body material. It is called Sunset Stripe.
I have 2 Little Dippers made in that body material, with a different trim - chocolate brown ultrasude.
If anyone would like these bags, send an email advising which one, and I will explain how to do a purchase. I will take my time heading to CA, and will stop to do sewing along the way, but the turnaround will not be within 24 hours.
Just got the van back from the shop. Tomorrow is pack it in day - plan is to leave at noon.

I'm on my way west!
Stopped for lubch and then will go to post office and mail out all but one chalkbag which needs finishing.
SILVER - I have gotten your emails and responded. Emails from several sources, website contact form and also Supertopo PM. I've sent responses, and not sure what the communications issue is - wondering if they might be in your Spam folder.
At any rate - I am clear on your chalbag, for daughter. It is the small size MonkeyShines, with no name on it(that was a request from another person for their daughter).
Sending it out today, so you will receive on Thursday or Friday!
MAN it is cold here. Going over the ridge, there were icicles hanging from the rock outcrops. Brrr!
