LEB that was NOT an important press conference. It was Bill Clinton explaining to the screaming DEMs that the O-Man cut them the best deal he could. Clinton proceeded to ramble and the Dude split. That is why he is SO COOL!

Let me see if I understand this correctly. The president of the United States, probably one of busiest men in America holds a press conference, Says what he wants to say, answers a few questions, then leaves and this bothers you? hahaha....Lois, you are a card.

Did George Bush ever answer every question the press had? Has any president ever answered all the questions the press has? Is it even possible to answer every question the press has? Have you ever even watched a press conference? The president never sticks around to answer every question. Thats what press secretaries are for.

hahahaha.. Keep on trolling Lois.

According to the account I read of Clinton's press conference, Obama left early because he had to join Michelle at another scheduled White House Christmas party where many people were waiting to meet them. The press conference was ad hoc and unscheduled. Working it into the president's busy schedule had alreadytaken some spontaneous scrambling on the part of the White House staff.

Nonsense.. No president has ever stayed all the way through one of these slugfests. They say what they want to say.. they answer a few questions and they make an excuse and leave. Maybe he made a poor excuse, but thats all.

There is no such thing as a middle of a press conference when it involves the president. Haven't you ever watched a press conference? Or is this your first.

good troll though... hahaha.. man this is funny.

Hey, guys, you defend this Bozo if you wish. Skipping out in the middle of a press conference is just about as unpresidential as it gets. I say it is emblematic of his whole attitude towards his job and his country.

Each time I hear one of these stories - I just shake my head in utter amazement.

LEB: It might be worth considering whether your outrage has more to do with your own anxiety than with whether or not his departure from the press conference was doing right by the office. I'm not going to go overboard to defend his presidency (nor cut loose on Bush by contrast), but I will maintain that any good leader (regardless of party affiliation or even job) knows there are times when no amount of explanation, data, or reframing will satisfy the chronically anxious.

He's not responsible for what makes you or anyone else nervous...not by staying up late and working on Saturdays to answer every question you or others might have for him...not by still being at the press conference until everyone's question is satisfied to everyone's satisfaction...not by satisfying you with his work ethic. "Michelle, I'm sorry about missing dinner tonight, but LEB's got a few more questions for me...and there might be someone else who does, too." Do ya follow?

LEB, you gave no information that said he was going to dinner.

He held a press conference. He said what he had to say. The primary purpose of the press conference was for Clinton to say what he thought about Obama's compromise plan. Obama was decoration, so he excused himself.

You have given NO information as to what he left the room to do. Clinton continued the press conference for another 1/2 hour.

You have made a baseless accusation. Do you think that the only function of the President's wife is to serve as arm furniture for the President?

This kind of crap is disgusting.

You have repeatedly flogged the ESPN thing, although you have not once, that I have seen, posted any reference to what you are talking about. I finally searched, and can find nothing about it. Is this BS that you are making up?

This is why I stopped posting with the likes of y'all....

We see things differently and will never agree. In fact, with most of you (even like myself) ther is no compromise.

When I leave is when people abandon reason and logic. And of course, the fringe will twist even that.

That is when discussion can no longer exist. It can't, not reasonable discussion.

Not a hanky, Matt, just logical, well reasoned discourse, based on well thought out ideas backed up with verifiable data and facts. At least reasonable theories.

During Eisenhower's presidency he had an aide present who would on schedule or at a signal merely say, "Thank you Mr. President."

That would be the end of the press conference.

Lois, when we citizens focus all of our attention on things other than substantive discussions of the issues we are signalling the end of our own discussion.

We cannot long continue as a nation, this way.
