If I were Obama, I would have ran away too. Running away is always easier than answering challenging questions.

President Chickensh#t.

I'd be pissed off if I had been stupid enough to have voted for him.

John, I'm curious of your take on the notion that by keeping the tax rates as they are, it will incrase the deficit by 800 billion dollars?

What say you? And be frank. Is it a disengenous arguement?

gf, if you're talking about re-defing the American manufacturing industry away from Taiwan and especially China, I'm on board.

This is where I dissassociate with "corporate AMerica". We have sold out for cheap labor at the expense of the American worker and American quality.

Just today I sat in an engineering meeting where the head Eng was looking over one of our boards (high speed Audio DSP) and pointed to the 'Made in USA' silkscreen on the fab, giving me a thumbs up. I returned it obviously.

We have the skill, but we don't have the will.

I''ve laid out my plans here before and I get called nationalistic, xenophobic, and whatever.

We need to rebuild our manufacfacturing base with the help of Mezxican labor, not Chinese. It makes sense on so many levels.

We need to look to Mexico, not China, as our friend in manufacturing.

It solves many problems you can prolly figure out,

you know, if you google "obama leaves press conference early" this thread is the second link that pops up?

Was this even a news item, anywhere but in Lois-land?

He IS leading us...

and he is TRYING real hard to patch up the sh!t the Republicans left him with and also trying real hard to HELP the American people as a WHOLE and NOT just the big corporate Republican greedy bastards...
Quote Here

You have no idea...You think Bush left us with the Obama Stimuli? And if Obama was gonnasave us from Bush, with his Stimuli, when is it gonna happen?

When the Repubs start cutting spending? When we get to keep more of our har earned money?

The Dems are crazier than Bush in terms of spending.

So it's Friday night, and the LEB is bagging on Obama for taking his (hottie) wife out for dinner? What red-blooded American man wouldn't take Michelle out to dinner on a Friday night? Sheesh!

A totally normally scenario, involving good family values and everything. And clever of him to sucker Clinton into taking care of things for him. Probably the first American president since Carter who simply went out for dinner with his wife sometimes.

John who?

If you are addressing me, I can only repeat what I have said many times starting in October 2008. The trillions in credit default swaps issued were never backed by hard money. So letting them fail would have, in no way, changed the actual value of the positions they supposedly insured. The investors would simply have had to accept they had made a risky bet. There should have been no TARP. Banks should have been allowed to fail and responsible parties pursued in civil and criminal court. Small depositors should have been protected as by the FDIC. Intead of putting a wall streeter in Treasury, Obama should have put Sheila Bair in as Secretary. She is the one with the experience and staff qualified to crawl under broken corporations with a sledge hammer, so as to part them out onto the market.

We should return to the pre-Bush tax rates. If we are to accept debt it should be to build a changed infrastructure atuned to the future. And to support innovation of new products that can be made in the US. It is easy to say we cannot compete in commodity markets, such as building computers, but it is not clear what we face is to be easy. Part by part it will be a judgment call.

We have to stop letting corporations and special interests formulate our national policies.

Possibly we are now at a turning point where foreign investors are ever less convinced the dollar is the safest reserve currency. I don't know. If so,

look out.

There is only one justice in the whole thing. The taxpayer/voter will be the ones to fall under the wheel for their inept decisions and failure to pay attention.

For folks who are "true patriots", the repubs are awfully whiny about pretty darn low taxes. Are y'all proud to shirk your civic duty?

LOW taxes? Where?

I paid over $50,000 in taxes to various governments this year already.

That's more than I spent on everything else put together.

And how much did you take in? 50,000 is a meaningless number without context.

Does it really matter how much you took in? What could you do with fifty grand right now?

Context? How are you paying more than 50% total taxes (at least that is the implication I get) when the top marginal rate is a mere 35%?

Perhaps you went to God school where basic arithmetic was optional? Or did Glenn Beck just tell you so?

This might give a little more context. The whole thing does seem somewhat surreal.

http://www.mediaite.com/tv/obama-brings-bill-clinton-in-to-talk-tax-plan-and-then-leaves-to-go-to-a-christmas-party/

edit: You have to watch the video on this link for the additional background. Clinton seems genuinely taken aback when Obama introduces him and announces he'll be leaving shortly.

Which governments did you pay taxes to?"

Governments like Cape Coral FL, St George UT, Goodyear AZ, Lee County ( FL ) Washington County ( UT ), Maricopa County ( AZ ), Los Angeles CA, San Bernardino CA, Riverside CA to name a few.

My main occupation, when you boil it down, is keeping my tax payments current.

I pay way more in taxes than I actually net as income.
