If the BM folks are making a mess, they need to clean it up.
The problem is they won't. A select few will, but the majority run loose, wild, groovy and free. But when the real work set's in, they are no where to be found.

Always was better last year :)
I think when you go again you will be amazed with the changes. It pains me deeply to have decided not to go again. It was a huge part of my life building art cars, simple art, etc. But after what I have seen and had to deal with the last two years......no go. Had to take out some as#@&%e last year that was trying to destroy our art car and he swung at my wife. Tore my rotator cuff taking the son of a bitch down to eat playa. Limited climbing for a year because of it.
Always better last year.

Why can't you build your art at home? And exhibit it in your own neighborhood? And let your neighbors enjoy it?

Shawn, I'm sorry to hear that. I don't think I'll be going again. It was beautiful when I was there, but the influx of tourists kind of kills it for me. We've been talking about it for years, bummer that we won't be able to meet up on the playa.
It was always such a special week for me, my own personal New Year's Eve. Things have changed though, apparently.
My much loved grandpa had his photo placed in the rafters of the Temple this year. My friends out west helped me make it happen. The community is strong.

I was a Burning Man once... but I was largely ignored.
Actually, I had heard there was to be a sequel to "Priscilla, Queen of the Desert"
so I thought I should practice.

Ron, violence isn't something to be applauded, it's just necessary sometimes.

Reilly,
Your artistic expression would have been the only thing at burning man worth seeing.
Except for the Dr. at the Free Clinic to get shots...

You're right , Ron. That wasn't an appropriate thing to say. I'll remove it.

Hey Shawn, so sorry to hear you are over the experience because of such idiocy. I didn't go last year because I had shattered my ankle and this year I just had too much work to take the time off. And there is in me a little voice that says, maybe that was it, 7 great amazing years and many lifetime friendships made and abundant never-to-be-repeated memories burned into my lobes. But who knows. There will be another great way to celebrate your birthday, I am sure. Wishing you well-- Daphne

Chief, you're out of your element here.
I spent three days cleaning up MOOP from my camp after the event ended. It was the same with most camps.
If you burn something, it has to be on a metal pan, so that you can remove any trace of your presence.
You talk, but get all the facts wrong.
Maybe you should bow out of a conversation that you're not qualified to participate in?

50% of them clean up folks being BLM employees paid for by your tax dollars.

Chief,
Totally, the DPW cleans up the playa after the people leave, what's wrong with that?
A huge party happens, and people stay for weeks to make sure that no litter is left behind.
That's good management as far as I'm concerned.
The playa is left as it was before the crowds arrived, what's your beef, hippies?
Edit; there is a trash fence around the perimeter to keep the trash from lazy losers contained.

I rest my case. Ignorance must really be bliss.
Groovy dude...
[EDITED]
It's amazing how f*#king stupid and selfish people are.
By the way, please share this sentiment with Ken Yaeger who heads up the Yosemite Face Lift to clean up the trash left by scum bags like you and your brethren.
Burn dude burn!

"Why can't you build your art at home? And exhibit it in your own neighborhood? And let your neighbors enjoy it?"
Because your neighbors & you invariably have differing opinions about what is 'art' and whether it contributes to the value of the properties around your 'studio'.
