OK. I was in school with a bunch of Muslim guys and still have a few as neighbors. Seemed like good folks. I mean real good people. Is this like the Germans and the Japanese? That is, good folks until you get a bunch of them together? How the hell can folks hate on Radiohead? Damned good thing the fans weren't gay or some such. The news: Link: http://www.yahoo.com/news/islamists-attack-radiohead-fans-turkey-091839421.html?nhp=1

"Istanbul (AFP) - British rock group Radiohead on Saturday condemned "violent intolerance" after Islamists brutally attacked customers at an Istanbul record store attending an album release party, angered that the event coincided with Ramadan. A group of about 20 men accosted and beat up customers and employees at the Velvet IndieGround music store in the city's hip Tophane district on Friday night for drinking alcohol while listening to music during the Muslim holy month. They trashed the store, hurled insults and broke up the release party of the album "A Moon Shaped Pool"."...blah blah...

Please don't tell them that Metallica wants residuals for their songs and wants the police to fine you if you download their stuff for free for Christs sake. They'll be on a 2 month rampage. Where's Fattrad, I think that we may have a Clash of Culture instance here. There may be more examples a well other folks can post up......I heard that Iran finally allowed Queen music to be played there. 15 years after Freddie Mercury's death. Bold, and progress too....but they still hang all male homosexuals if and when they catch them. I wonder what would have happened if Queen had played a concert there and while they were in the middle of "I want to Break Free" someone whispered to the head Ayatollah as the band played "Hey, did you know that singer is homo"....

Your knowledge of homosexuality in Iran is lacking. You have a point, but its based on uninformed heresay which over-simplifies and under-mines it.

But i agree in general. The persecution of sexuality anywhere is a crime against nature.

Well, this is a good conversation. Actually used to climb with a Muslim a bit ago, but we parted ways for secular reasons. I guess. Long story. Had almost nothing to do with me.

Anyway, very prescient topic. Muslims need to sack up. "good Muslims" need to be as vocal as possible in this regard. I understand that not everybody is willing to stnd up and declare,"I'm a good Muslim", or whatever.

But I need to hear Muslims LEADERS AND PRACTIONIONERS make no bones about the fact that they despise these people amongst them. They need to turn them in.

Again, pretty difficult.

The FBI has been neutered with respect to actually targeting a legit Muslim target, or lead. They had to tread different waters when dealing with a certain religion.

THIS IS THE F*#KING PROBLEM!!! None other.

You cannot quell an enemy if it is not defined. We are at WAR with radical Islamists whether YOU OR THE PRESIDENT LIKE IT! THEY WILL KILL YOU IF THEY CAN.

These are FACTS. Radical Islamists have declared war on the West. They will never kill us all, but they;ll kill as many as they can as long as they're still breathing.

They have done this before, and are following the same path/doctrine. It's you or them. They will not stop until they're confronted. It won't be knights on horseback this time. It will be .223 rounds in the face and, appropriately named, Hellfire missiles on yer convoy.

Everybody hates Muslims. Except for the good ones.

Let's hope we don't come this, but we're pretty close.

Oh, you think that Germany and Japan are at this point filled with BAD folks, because there are a lot of Germans and Japanese?

I don't see a lot of violence in America during Octoberfest, or during the Cherry Blossom Festival.

Yep, keep writing this sort of thing. You will be the poster child for ISIS.

Islamic Terrorists are to Islam,
as the KKK or Westboro is to Christianity.

Haven't seen you disavowing yourself of your Westboro Christian brothers, so we know that you approve of their actions, right?

Start by replacing the word 'muslim' with 'religious' everytime its used and you start to see the 'war' has been on for sometime and that the side of reason is loosing, by the simple metrc that in the US religion is gaining more influence.

Japans a good example. They were a lunatic violent lot with fundamentalist religion at the core of their national ideology. After excising all of it and allowing religion no higher status than private practice they calmed down, invested in capitalist democracy and turned on to fetish, sexuality and fun.

Every time I see one of those losers I tell them to f*#k off. They are worthless brainwashed beings.

When I see I see them trying to do violence, I'll be the first one there to fire back.

But they have been marginalized, they way they should be.

Nice to try to tie Killer Christians into the discussion though. Maybe try the McVeigh route next?

The point is that you don't take ownership for the exact thing that you demand of others.

I'm sure that you don't monitor the sites where Moslem leaders post their repugnance of the terrorists, but you don't post about your repugnance for Westboro, and their CELEBRATION of violence against US Service people.

You want us to draw conclusions about them, but not about you, for exactly the same supposed actions.

Because I'm a super-paranoid right-winger, I really don't trust or like most people. I judge everybody the same.

BUT

I would obviously have to profile Muslims at a different level though, right? That would be common sense.

Arguably the largest mass killing in very recent times was the Rwanda Genocide, where nearly a million people were shot, beaten, stabbed and hacked to death, in a period of around three months. At that time, very few of the perpetrators were Muslim, the vast majority were Protestant Christians.

One lesson to be learned is that regardless of religious affiliation, a certain percentage of people are capable of this sort of violence, if provoked.

Robert Pape, who made the largest most comprehensive study of suicide bombers, found that the group with the largest number were the Marxist Tamil rebels of Sri Lanka. He also found that among all suicide bombers, their motivation and feelings were primarily political, regardless of religious association.

If you look at the Orlando bomber, you find that he was deeply disturbed and prone to violence. He expressed anger at the Americans for killing innocent people in Afghanistan. But it does not appear to me that he was motivated by reading the Koran and acting in accord with it.

Donald Trump claims that Muslims will not turn in fellow Muslims, but a high FBI official has contradicted this, saying that they have gotten many valuable tips from Muslims, and consider the non-violent portion of the Muslim community to be a valuable ally in their efforts to prevent attacks.

aspen, good point.

The problem most people have is that our current perp d'jour of genocide and indescimanite killing all have the Muslim faith as their Most Common Denominator (MCD). I just made that up.

But it is a fact of reality.

So, if you're going to profile for future events, you would have that in your bag of tricks as an investigator (unless you're FBI, then you can't mention Muslim ). Start with Muslims, the MCD.

This is where the phrase 'radical Islamist' came from. It was so we could separate our Muslim friends from our Muslim enemies.

It is actually a term of solidarity, if you really consider it.
