In the 80's I spent way too much time watching MTV (when it was good) and always wanted a FSR shirt. It was so simple, clean and demanding.
This just seemed like a shirt waiting to happen. I know John would be proud...
By the way, for you purists... the original shirt did say, "Frankie Say Relax" but after a while it became, "Frankie Says Relax" which just makes more sense grammatically.

And remember... Always FREE SHIPPING and NO TAX!
While your there, check out the other new shirts!
LIMITED EDITION BRIDWELLFEST '10 (Funds go to the Bird.)
WHAT SONG ARE YOU LISTENING TO RIGHT NOW? (You have to see this one!)
CASTLE ROCK SPIRE
FACELIFT '09 (Funds go to the YCA.)
This AIN'T NO @%@ WIENIE ROAST
RUSSIAN ELECTROCUTION
and more to come this week!
Starting in 2010 we are donating 10% of our pre-tax profit (the lawyers said we had to write it that way) to the Yosemite Climbing Association and YOSAR. Other big corporations donate 1% and many do nothing but we like to think a bit bigger than that. (Exceptions to this rule are shirts produced for specific fund-raising events such as Facelift and BridwellFest '10)

Did you ever see Yabo climb? Relaxed is not the way I would have described his style- desperate but effective might be closer.

You are fúcking kidding, right?
I believe Yabo would have nothing to do with this, and I spent a lot of time with him.
Not his personality, at all.
What next? A Bachar shirt?

ihateplastic, A few questions. Did you know Yabo? Is there some kind of inside joke here? How do you know he would be proud? He is dead. Will the money made from these shirts go to someone that Yabo left behind, or is it for your own profit?
IMO it seems exploitive and tacky. Please explain. Peace.

I just came across the link to the Vershke Group and saw the B.A.T. shirts and DOLT shirts too. Sure, they look kinda cool, and maybe could be considered a tribute, but I just find it distasteful to exploit these dead individuals.

While I re-think this since there appear to be some here who object... let me state, for the record, that YES! I did know John. Quite well actually. I went to junior high and high school with him. Bouldered at Castle Rock and elsewhere with him. Hung out in the lounge seating area in his dad's theatre. Climbed in the Valley and the Meadows with him. So, yep... I knew John quite well.
Was John relaxed... not really a worthy question for those who knew him well. But neither was Frankie! It's called a "play on words."
This does not exploit John any more than a Che Guevara shirt/poster exploits Che after his death.
And since I forward some of these funds to climbing related non-profits and John spent so much of his life climbing I feel confident that he would not be offended.
However, since there appear to be a few here who might not quite get it, I will reconsider. Hell, makes the shirts super collectable!
As for JB shirts... perhaps you would like to hear about the full line of apparel John wanted to do called Bachar Equipment. He had wanted to do it for years. I was in deep discussion with him on this very matter less than 20 hours before his death. However, I will not be pursuing that since there are more cookies in the oven.
As always, thanks for the input!
P.S. I bet John and John are both relaxing as they look down on this thing called Supertopo.

There is another shirt on the boards with a fantastic portrait by Errett Allen... maybe I'll switch that in to settle the masses.

I think people are missing the tongue-in-cheek element of the shirt.

ihateplastic, who are you?
i prefer to know who i am talking to and not just a puter name..
i also agree this is bad taste and exploitation...
same goes for the man, JB..

Perfect ST thread....
There is definitely a play on words there.
Bullwinkle, you take pictures of naked women climbing, which I think is great, but you shouldn't be telling anyone what is exploitation.
I'll take a Yabo shirt.
And yes, I knew Yabo too.
