Nice TR,
Good job on the climb. What a place.
The time I did cathedral in was warm and there were at least 25 other people on the route. Soloists were lapping us. Logjambs at the upper belays lead to endless friendly conversation and jokes. It was fun
Thanks for posting.

Cathedral Peak is such a great adventure climb.
I took one of my buddies up there for his first multi-pitch. We bivied at the tree line on the approach. There was a full moon and the buttress stood out in stark contrast about 1/4 mile away, reaching up to the sky.
After finishing the next day my friend told me he was so intimidated by the moonlit rock face that he barely slept all night!

Laughing robustly here!
Nice TR, Mike - cheered up a soggy day in Oakland. What's the next objective?
My friend and I got dinged for $70 each in the Curry lot one wintry December night as the bells tolled 3am, and got the boot to boot. Beginning that night about twenty minutes later I learned to be more creative in my bivy selection habits.
When I climbed Cathedral it was late October, I had started at Tenaya, come up the buttress, and hiked over along the ridge. My pipes were so dry with the cold by the time I got there that I was sucking ice off of frozen pine needles and breaking it out of erosion holes in the granite slabs. I have a pic of that somewhere. I was toast by the time I got back to the road, but happy toast.
There they are edit:
And Cathedral again:

Mike-
Thanks for coming out from the lurker den. That is a fun route in a beautiful location. Thanks for the photos; it brings back some sweet memories of days gone by.

Nice TR Mike. Cathedral Peak is such a great summit.
It is amazing to think of Muir soloing that. Tough.
Welcome to ST hardman status.
Best, Roger

All these awesome replies! Glad I could bring out all the good memories. Almost made me feel ok about falling off plastic all day.
rhyang..could have used a screw for sure but we were trying to keep things moving. To protect the innocent, I won't go into detail but I got pretty lucky.
Zander, definitely stoked to do it when we heard but never saw one other party. I think they bailed when the snow started.
Le_Bruce....beautiful pics man. Dont see Cathedral from those angles too often. Next up? RA, Snake Dike, who knows? Beautiful thing when there is no end to the opportunities. Maybe I should take a poll.
