You are so AWESOME. Especially after I gave you hell for
what I thought was making fun of the Museman.
You are tops in my book. Thanks for the wonderful read,
and for making it happen (and we were able to watch through
ElCap-pics earlier this year).
You are the best.
Thanks

PS. Steve, you're something else too. I'm in awe of your
spirit. I hope you have a safe and wonderful kayak trip.
You'll have to report it here too!

hey there T2... man, oh, man... i just LOVE good-buddy stuff... way to go, good buddies...

say, i know a few folks that when they can't get out of the house, just cause they are sick--no one will even "share their legs" to go get them a can of soup, aspirin, or, juice...

three cheers for good buddies, and a love for the great outdoors!...

edit: oooops, forgot... GREAT TRIP REPORT, TOO... and great fun photos---you all look like you had more fun than winning the lottery...

What a climb! Nice work Tommy. I remember talking museman you at No Barriers and figuring some things out. Looks like they worked. Next year, we're going to try to do an all-gimp ascent of the Cap. You in Steve?

Malcolm, the gear worked like a charm, buddy! Thanks for the insight. The 2/1 was the way to go for my puny arms for sure. I could be talked into another trip up the Captain too! An all gimp ascent...that will be a trip!

Congrats to all 3 of you on a fantastic climb and a very creative ascending system! I teach rock climbing and ascending systems on rock faces, ropes courses, and climbing walls to people of all abilities. I have worked with Mark and his system is great for ascending a single rope, but many of the people I work with need a bit more mechanical advantage. I have also used a 4-to-1 system with 250 feet of rope involving 1 double pulley and a second double pulley with a cam built in. The ascender uses a handle bar/jumar setup similar to Mark's but it takes 250 feet of rope for the climber to gain a little over 50 feet of height on the wall/rock so it doesn't work as well for longer multi pitch ascents. I have played around a bit with the 2-to-1 system built on a single rope, but I have not come up with one that works that well. Looking at the photo of Steve...it definitely looks like you have come up with a great system!! I was at the No Barriers Festival in 2007 and will be back in 2009 in Florida. I'd love to see the system in action! Thanks for the great post of your climb!
