Update?

He was at the facelift last fall. I talked with him for awhile and he tried to sell me his books.

Here's a photo I took of Chongo soloing Eagle's Way, which I hotlinked from his website.

Chongo's website says the photo is "courtesy of Neil [SIC] Weiss" which I suppose is technically true, because Neal probably gave the copy of the photo I took to Chuck.

I was there with Neal when Chongo fed us after we topped out with no food or water.

This is a copy of a photo I copied from a link to Chongo's webpage, downloaded to my computer, and uploaded to the ST, with proper attribution. What's fair is fair - no? Great photo BTW. Don't neglect to click to enlarge.

It's been a few years since I last saw Chongo. At the time he was in Sac writing for the homeless paper, driving a Benz, and was shacked up with some gal in a nice place.

Had lunch, talked about physics stuff, and his opinions on a few posters to this thread, surprisingly enough. At any rate, I'm sorry to hear he was at Facelift and I missed it, but I was in Africa at the time.

Lot of good in Chuck, lot of bad, just like all of us. But at least he's comfortable in his own skin - not many are.

The Chuck E. Chongo I met at Facelife is one gentle teacher, whatever else he be.
I'd trust him with my chuckah or my kids or even my (name it, he's cool).

assume the reader knows way more than most of us do

is their any cliffnotes to this incident and its resolution?
