From Allie,

I have them in a zip file and am trying to send it to Nature but it is taking forever...there is a lot on it. I also think I duplicated some and there are family photos and such mixed in. I am leaving it as I do not have time to weed them out... there are so many pics...I cannot believe how many actually.

I will get them to you...if I have to email each folder individually...I have key drives and a external hard drive if it comes to that but it shouldn't. I have never had so many issues trying to transfer files but then I have never tried to do so many and his computer is somewhat on the sloooowwwwww side...If it worked for him I will make it work for me! hehe. I am not leaving here tomorrow until this is complete. : )

Allie - the reason I suggested Skype (or AIM, or iChat, ect), is because you can send unlimited file sizes.
No need to break everything up into separate e-mails which seems incredibly inefficient and time-consuming,
considering e-mails generally have to be limited to 10 megabytes each. With Skype, ect, you just drag and
drop once into the chat window and then you can go to sleep, knowing that everything will get there without
further action. For example, I sent a friend a folder of photos which was 330 MB, which would have required
at least 33 separate e-mails. I just dragged and dropped it, and he had it a few hours later. It works great!

durnit... i don't know if i have an AIM account.

let me check.

Allie: how much longer are you around to try to make this happen?

LEB: I know what you are suggesting and it's reasonable. But i think time constraints might be at issue. thanks though... we'll make it work one way or the other.

Allie - I have an AIM account login you could use. Email me at sniderthansnide (at) gmail (dot) com if you need it.

However, I would recommend Skype, as it is super-easy to set up, worlds better than AIM
(on an order of magnitude), and it can be set up in just 2 or 3 minutes. Plus, Nature has
Skype running 24/7.

http://www.skype.com

Just download the Mac or Windows version, install, and then pick a user name, and it
checks the network to see if the name is taken. Then just enter in Nature's user-name to
your list, open a chat, drop the one big folder into the window, then all of the work is done.

If your father's image folder is more than hundreds of megabytes (which would knott surprise me,
as many of his animations were 800 Kb to over 1 megabyte each), then snail-mailing a DVD as
LEB suggests might actually be a viable option. Do you know how big the folder is?

Do you know Nature's Skype user name?

LEB... again I appreciate the idea. There are things in the works going on behind the scenes and they will probably stay that way until it becomes obvious.

I'll be chatting with Karl later tomorrow about some it (and will be doing so in part because of the integrity of which you speak).

EDIT: Hi Allie! haha... dlafarge on skype. I'm there now

Lois - I think the idea is to get the work online where it can be viewed by all, in a centrally
located place with links that won't expire. Nature is a web-programmer who could host
them for next to nothing, so it's not like any serious money needs to be raised.

BTW, a single-layer DVD holds approx 4.4 GB, a double-layer DVD holds twice that.

Thank you very much...the ultimate compliment...I am still in a fog and have been unable to think clearly so apologies on everything I do right now taking so damn long! Things that are typically obvious to me and take no thought process at all are hanging me up...it will take some time to get myself back I am sure.

Anything is worth getting his pics together. It is killing me to not be able to post some of them that are specifically being asked about on the threads. I have never had so much trouble with pictures in my life! : ) All of your assistance and patience is so very appreciated...

LEB: I have a webserver and will store all of his stuff at no cost for as long as I have the server (which has been 10 years now). No worries there, sister!!!

I'd like to register a domain name to run the stuff under

http://www.ouchcomics.com
http://www.ouchcartoons.com
?

The idea isn't to download everything. I envision a site where you can interact and view all of his work in an organized manner.

OK.... ouchlives.com it is. I've registered it and it'll start pointing to my server later today. I'll see if I can't do the typo3 install and have a skeleton site setup tonight.
