f*#k,
Just fliped on the tube.
It's bad.
At least one car on it's side. Smoke starting, cops running.
Two dead already.

Looks like the back half of the Metrolink locomotive ended being jammed into the first passenger car.

I have seen that same train go by many times. At the point of impact the train is usually going about 30-40mph.
Probally about 300 people on board.

I would love to hear one of the FD spokespersons tell those idiot reporters,
"We are to busy saving lives to keep score. Come talk to us when it's over"
Or even better,
"get out of the way as#@&%e"

hey there TGT.... sad to say... them folks should back off, you are so right... rescue work is very high-tense stuff...
no one realizes that perhaps their job, reporting, is really secondary... and honor should be given to the chore at hand... and those that must face harder things than even they are perhaps used to... (even if they have done the same kind of rescue job for years)...

Neebee and TGT, check this out.
A radio reporter said he saw an L.A. Times reporter FAKING he was an injured train passenger so he could get closer to the REAL victims.
If the L.A. Times didn't fit the bird cage perfectly (not all newspapers are the same size) I'd cancel them today.

LAFD and first responders did an amazing job. Will post more later.

Flouride,
I just missed going to this incident by a few minutes. Our captain had a meeting so I took his place. The guy who took my place went to the incident. I was stuck at the station getting bombarded with phone calls from around the globe.
I was telling my wife this morning when i got home how I am glad i missed it. 20 years of being a LAFD FF/PM and this stuff starts to eat away at you. I could tolerate it and manage it better as a young kid on the job but now the years of stress have stared to take their toll. If people think that pulling bodies out of car wrecks and fires doesn't bother firemen they're wrong. The problem with firemen is they usually have too much pride to ask for help or counseling.
I consider myself to have dodged a bullet yesterday but in Los Angeles it is just a matter of time until the next big incident. I just have to deal with each one as they come.
Sorry for the rant.
